"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything" -Mark Twain
Mark Twain once said "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember any thing." What I think this quote means is that if you don not lie and you tell the truth then you never have to remember any lies that you tell to people. How it could be related to our society is that everybody lies, no matter what they may say they have lied at least one time in their life, if we don't lie to each other then we never have to remember the lies we say and it would be a lot more peaceful without lying to each other. What this quote means to me is that lying isn't really a good thing although it can be used with good intentions, such as telling your child that their dog ran away or other "white lies" instead of telling the truth people of all ages lie to each other, why? Because it is so much easier most times than just telling the truth also because it's in our DNA it's in human nature to lie. An example of this from my life is not too long ago. About one or two years ago I was the biggest procrastinator you would ever know. My parents always asked if I did my homework and I always told them yes. Then I would get bad grades because I never did my homework, I thought that I could make just on projects, extra credit and tests/quizzes, but it was just barely enough to keep above a D. .This was a great lesson to me that I should stop procrastinating and lying to my parents and do my work. So let this be a lesson to you that instead of lying and having to remember all your lies that you tell and make up and tell the truth from now on.
ReplyDeletei like alexs blog because his examples were good. Also the one about telling the kid the dog ran away was a good example. He is right about what the quote means and its not like he just wrote something to write it.I like how he said people of all ages lie about things. Also how he said its easier than telling the truth but sometimes its not.
DeleteMark Twain once said,”If you tell the truth you won't have to remember anything.”I think this quote means that if u tell the truth you won't have to remember the whole story to you're lie. That quote can relate to today’s people because they lie all the time and if they just told the truth it would be way easier than making up a whole story. This quote means to me that if you do what youre told you won't have to make a lie to make it look like you did what you were supposed to do. This quote relates to my life because i would make up all these lies to my cousin to make it look lije i had a cool life and all that. But soon i forgot them and she would constantly ask about them over and over. She had caught me in my lie a few times then i realized whats the point have lieng to her.I stopped lieng about things but i realized she was lieng too.I asked her about one story she told me and when she said the story it was way different then the first story. When i told her it was different she lied again and said no but i already knew she was lieng. That day i didn't feel bad anymore for lieng to her but i still stopped. She had said sorry for lieng about everything and she won't lie again but she soon started again and still does now.Once in a while ill lie too but never as much as her and never as much as her.All in all, i love this quote and the way it works still today and everyday it is amazing for it to be used now.
ReplyDeleteI think Bridget did an excellent job on this blog report. She really explained how this quote ment and she told some good points. I really like how she mentioned she lied to her cousin and her cousin eventually caught she was lieing. Overall she did an excellent job on this blog report. After i read this i can thoroughly understand what it means!
DeleteI think Bridget did a great job on her response. She had some very valid points and examples. I especially enjoyed the one about her cousin. After reading her response I am glad to say that I can better understand this topic.
DeleteI can't agree anymore then I already do with Bridget. I've been in the same situation as her when you become caught in a lie. It can be pretty awkward and embarrassing. But that's not the point, the point is that you shouldn't have to lie to impress people and I say that from experience. And I love how Bridget realized it as I did in sort of the same situation. Great job and I love how you expresses the meaning of the quote,
Delete“ If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.” This quote was said by Mark Twain. I think this quote means is that if you are telling the truth you have nothing to cover up because it isn’t a lie. When people lie they have to think of like a cover story to make beleive it is true when it is not and you can get caught up in it. Telling the truth is definitely way easier because you don't have to commit to a fake story. The truth is the truth because it doesn't change the real story. For example, when we wake up in the morning we know we have done some wrongs but some wake up with regret. This because we all have made up big lies to make ourselves sound better. In the end people find out and we end up getting hurt because it isn’t the truth. Then again if you wake up with a smile like most people don’t, you know you have never lied a day in your life. I think everyone in there life has made up a lie and they may regret it but it teaches them not to become something they are not. This quote to me means that if you lie you going to have to talk a lot and if you dont you wont have to talk as much because it is the truth. Lying is another excuse for remembering another falls about yourself. If you lie and lie again it will end up in your head mixed and scrambled and you will get your lies mixed up. For example in the book I once read it was about a troubled boy and he lied alot and he lied so much that everyone thought he was rich. when really he lived in the beat up town and he and his mom was poor. When everyone found out they all started to hate him. he was alone and had nowhere to go except home. His mom was the one to remind him that it doesn't matter what you have but what you can bring to people. He learned from what his mom said and didn't lie about who he truly was.
ReplyDeleteI think sandys entry this week is very well written. She thorughly explained everything. She made it easy to understand. She explained the quote very well. And it feels as if she took this entry more serious and personal than any other entry. You felt here mood and its good for the reader to feel the authors tone or mood. Overall sandy did a great job.
Delete"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything" -Mark Twain I think this means that if you lie theirs no point because your not going to remember and even if you do it's going to more work to remember the lie you made. But, if you think about it, telling the truth might get you in trouble for doing what you did. But, in the long run you would get in less trouble than you would if you lied to them. Because, a lot of people value honesty you would not get in as much trouble. This relates to our society and everyday people do because, if break a vase and they lie and say their sibling did it when their parents find it was them, they are going to be in a whole lot more trouble, then they would have been if they told the truth. Their parents would have been more proud of them also.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates from my life because when my brother was younger he used to like to play ball outside and one day he was playing base ball outside and he hit it way too hard and it broke the kitchen window and of course I came outside when I saw what happened. I took the bat from him and then my dad came outside, my brother blamed it on me. So I got grounded for 2 weeks but at the time I was really bad at sports so I made my dad come and see how mad I was and I would miss every ball he threw at me so I talked to him about it and he finally believed me. So my brother got grounded for 2 months. That was because he lied and broke the window. That's the point if you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything because when my dad went to talk to him he told him a different story. He said I threw it, I didn't hit it like the first time.
I agree with Jess on everything she wrote. You shouldn't lie about anything. You should always tell the truth. Lying causes more trouble an confusion. Jess wrote her response very well.
Delete“If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.”- Mark Twain. This quote means that if you tell the truth you don't have to remember to say what you said or did before. This quote can be related to society because, on a daily basis there’s people lying. Some of these people lie so often they don't even realize they’re lying. And they even believe their own lie. So the part that this quote comes in is, if we as people tell the truth and not lie we won’t have to remember any of our lies and the back story of the lie. For example, let’s say a man robbed a clothing store and police are interrogating the man who commits the crime. If the man just simply tell the truth he won't have to remember the lie he should've told the police during the interrogation.
ReplyDeleteTo me this quote means to just simply tell the truth. I can relate this to my life because, when i was a lot younger about 8-12 years old, i used to be an extremely huge liar! It got so bad that i stared t believe my own lies. I would do something mischievous and then come up with a backstory for the lie and try to get away with it. Then i would have to remember the whole lie scenario. This cry wolf stage of my life got me in a lot of trouble. I couldn't have friends or cousins over because i was grounded. When i would lie when i was younger I couldn't play with my barbies. It just, in general, got me in a lot of trouble. Now that i'm older and more mature than a couple years ago i know its okay to take the consequence but tell the truth and accept the consequence even if i dont lie. I'm not as much as a heavy liar. But i have little white lies here and there. But personally, i believe lying can be a good and bad thing depending on the situation you’re dealing with. Mark Twain once said, ‘If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything”. I think this quote means that if you tell the truth you don't have to remember to say what you said or done before.
I think Elena did a very good job on her blog. she explained it very well and tells us about how everyone lies on a daily bases. I love when she said lying can be a good and bad thing. I also liked how she did admit that she does lie but not a heavy liar.all in all Elena did a very good job!!!
Delete"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything" -Mark Twain
ReplyDeleteI think this quote can mean that if you don’t lie and tell the truth you don’t have to make up stories and try and remember them. This quote can really mean alot to some people and this quote can relate to many novels and in real life situations. One example of this quote is from the novel “How to Kill a Mockingbird”. In this story Atticus was asking the victim questions over and over again to prove she’s guilty. The reason he does this is to see if she remembers on what she lies about. Since she is making up stuff she has to remember the stories she made up. Then when atticus asks questions to Tom Robinson he doesn't lie and Atticus believes him because he doesn't have to remember anything because hes not guilty! Another example on how this quote can relate to real life is if someone steals something in a classroom at school like a pencil or something, the teacher will know who stole it because he would find out if they tell the truth or not or not remember anything. If that person gets asked if he stole the pencil he will get in trouble for not telling the truth. Overall, what he is trying to say if someone is lying about something you can tell their lying if they have to remember what their talking about. As you can see that is what I think Mark Twain thought about this quote and why I think this quote has a lot of meaning to it! In my opinion everyone should use this quote to help you realize that you should tell the truth."If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything" -Mark Twain
"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything." This is a quote by Mark Twain. I think this quote means that if you don’t lie about things, you don’t have to remember the lie. If you keep lying and you forget the first lie you told, you will make up a new one. Eventually, the person you told the lie to will figure it out and you will get into trouble. This can be related to society and everyday things people do. People lie all the time. Sometimes it becomes a bad habit. If you lie a lot, you probably will forget all the lies you told. For example, if you lie about taking a pencil and you say you didn’t take it, time goes by and the person asks again what happened to it and you say it broke or something. You have now told two lies and the person knows you are lying. Chances are, they won’t trust you very much. Personally, this quote means don’t lie. It just gets you in even more trouble than you would have been. Lying isn’t something you want to be known for even if it means protecting a friend. You should always tell the truth. This quote can also relate to literature. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Mayella Ewell lies about Tom Robinson committing a crime. Atticus Finch keeps repeating the questions he asked her to see if she changes her answer. She does a few times but then she catches herself and changes her answer. She would say yes to a question then no then yes again. If you tell the truth, things won’t be as confusing. When you lie, people start to not trust you anymore and will think you lie about everything. This is an excellent quote that people who lie should read. Lying makes everything worse.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think that Mark Twain's quote means is that if you tell the truth then you will not have to rember anything about you getting in trouble. Though if you lie you have to remember that you are going to get in trouble because you did not tell the exact truth on what you did wrong. What I also think that it means is that if you tell the truth then you will not have to worry about what you did wrong anymore because you feal positive on what you had actually said. How this relates to our society now is kind of like in the court room and you are with the judge. If you tell the truth you don't have to worry about being guilty anymore because you were being positive on what had happened. Though if you do not tell the truth then you have to worry about being guilty. What this quot means to me is that maybe I should just start telling the truth more to my parents a litle bit. I think this because I always lie about putting away my papers and then get in trouble and worry about if I am going to get grounded at all maybe. This also relates to my life because of my 9 year old little brother Gio which is short for Giordano. T his is also because when he is about getting in trouble he either blames it on me or my other little brother Santino who is I believe 6-7 years old I always get confused. But anyway when he blames it on us then he is worried that my Mom or Dad might wind up finding out that he actually did it not us. To me this is what I think that Mark Twain's quote really means and how it relates to me and te society. " If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything".
ReplyDeleteI like Nicks reply to this quote. He clearly applies it to his life as well as an example from real world situations. Nick also includes an example from liturature. I like his clearly stated example and I like the examples he had in his paragraph.
DeleteMark twain really did well on writing this quote. It showed his identitie and passion and care for telling the truth and being an honest person. I think it means if you be honest and tell the truth with everything nothing bad will happen to you and you wont get faced with problems in your future. This quote really relates to my life because when i was young i used to lie all the time. Thankfully i grew out of it and now im more honest than ever. Yeah i lie once in a while but nothing to major. This relates to every single person ever to walk this eart. Lieing has been around forever its something that will never go away but we need to try our best to not do it that much and really just not lie to anyone. All in all this quote means alot to me as you can see and it really affects everyone and everything out there mark twain reaally got this one on the nose.
ReplyDeleteMark Twain once said “If you tell the truth you wont have to remember anything” This is a very true quote. To me it means that you should always tell the truth no matter what. Telling the truth is a whole lot better than lying about something and then having someone found out you were lying later on. If you just tell the truth right away you wont be in as much trouble and wont suffer from it later on. It also means that if you straight up tell the truth then you wont have to remember to hide anything later on so they dont find out the real truth, they will already know and you wont have to worry. Also if you tell the truth all the time then people will know they can trust you a lot more because they know you wont lie to them about anything. Telling the truths also relieves a lot of stress from you. Instead of just keeping a lie within you you can just let it out and get it off your mind already and you wont have to worry about anything. This has happened to me before. I had broken a vase and I tried lying about it and my mom had ended up knowing I did it anyway. The truth will find its way to you no matter what you do to hide it or anything. The truth is like a boomerang.
ReplyDeleteMark Twain once said ,“If you tell the truth you don’t have anything to remember” To me this quote means that the truth doesn't need time to be remembered because the truth is known not thought of. It can be related to everyday things people do now by applying it to things in jobs and in other aspects of life such as sports. If you're on the job and you mess up and make a mistake just come clean and tell your boss what you’ve done. The truth will be found out anyway. In sports if there’s a call that is not correct tell the umpire. Also when you don't tell the truth in places like court most people can tell so just tell the truth or you’ll go to jail and be called a liar. An example of this from literature would be from To Kill A Mockingbird. When Tom Robinson goes to court and he testifies everything he says is clearly the truth because there was no hesitation. But when Bob Ewell gets up to testify he pauses multiple times. He also changes his story many times to fit the evidence that atticus tells him. When mayella goes to the stand she stalls by crying and yelling at atticus. When she actually does speak she never says anything correct. She said her dad never hit her. Then she said “except” when atticus asked her about this exception she burst out and yelled at him. Neither of the ewells really had any idea what to say since they weren't telling the truth. Mark Twain once said ,“If you tell the truth you don’t have anything to remember” This is what Mark Twain's quote means to me.
ReplyDeleteI liked eric's answer to this quote. I love how he had said that if you lie the truth will be found anyway.I also love his example of the book we are rading in class To Kill A Mockingbird with Atticus and Myella in the court room and Mayella is lying about the truth of Tom Robinson because he is a black man.Though overall his response was great to Mark Twain's quote.
DeleteMark Twain once said,”If you tell the truth you won't have to remember anything.”I believe this quote means that if you tell the truth you won't have to remember the whole story to you're lie. That quote can relate to today’s people because they lie all the time and if they just told the truth it would be way easier than making up a whole story. Also everyone finds out the truth at some point. So would you rather have yourself tell them with no lies and it be the truth or someone else telling them the truth along with all you're lies? That is just the little things you would have to think about. This quote relates to me by when I was around the age eight I was a little clumsy. The women that my mother was very close to past away recently at the time. When she past away she left us some things in her will which in this story particularly the expensive China plates. I was putting them away the day after we had Easter at my house and as I was walking to the cabinet which is the next room over to the kitchen where my mom was and all the sudden you hear a loud crashing noise. I tripped over my five year old brothers toy truck and the china plate I was holding was shattered In pieces scattered Around the floor. My mom comes running in and she's like what happened? And as I vividly remember I told her that Chris (my younger brother) said he'd hold the plate while I was opening the cabinet door and he dropped it. My little brother got in lots of rrouble my mom was ferrous at him and he got punished. That night I went to go check on him to see if he was still crying and he wouldn't let me come in his room. I started to feel so much guilty for lying and getting my little brother in trouble. So after dinner I went to my mom and told her the truth because it was eating me up inside. I ended up getting punished twice as long as my brother and got yelled at for lying and had to apologies to my brother. At the end of the night I realized telling the truth would've been the easier choice then me lying, getting my brother In trouble, and feeling the guilt eating me up. So my lessened was learned which was tell the truth it's a lot better than lying at the end of the day.
