  1. Mark Twain once said, "if you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything". I think this quote means, in life you won't have to worry about anything if you just tell the truth when you should. Personally, I think there are many times that you might have to to make things right. However, for the times that you do tell the truth, they usually always make your life easier in the end. For example, if you secretly got beaten at home almost every day, and someone asks you if you do, and you tell that person yes, it would help a lot. Sometimes letting the truth out, even though you don't want to, can make you feel so much better. Personally, this quote means a lot to me. In my life I have lied, a lot. Most people out there have, at least a few times. Usually if you lie to your parents, for example, it's a good thing, because most parent would get upset with you if you told the truth about something that you did that was wrong. However, if you tell the truth to them, they aren't as mad if you would have lied, because they know that you were honest and learned from whatever you did. Another good example would be from "To Kill A Mockingbird" when in the courthouse, Mayella is very scared and upset, because of her father. He was a very violent person and beat his daughter when he didn't like what she did. She didn't know if she should have told the truth or not to Atticus about her father beating her, because she was scared to. If Mayella was to tell the truth, she would have felt so much better inside. Along with this example, it shows that this is a very good quote to go by, to not always lie, because of what such better things could happen if you tell the truth.

  2. Mark Twain once said “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” What I think this means is that if you tell the truth no matter what, you won’t have to worry about telling the lie and you don’t have to have the guilt. You don’t have to worry if you tell the truth because you told the truth and you didn’t lie and that’ll give you the relief you need. Imagine if you were in a situation where you had to tell the truth but you lied because of whatever reason, wouldn’t you feel really uncomfortable and scared and anxious? It’s normal if you do because you know you lied about something and it gives you those type of feelings when you do it. But if you tell the truth instead you wouldn’t feel guilty, or anxious, or worried. You would feel fine and you wouldn’t worry about anything and the weight will be lifted off your shoulders instead of adding it on your shoulders.
This quote is very important in life. You will deal with situations whether you try to avoid them or not and all situations require you to tell the truth. Instead of hiding everything, tell the truth. Don’t hold back even if it might hurt the other person don’t hold back. The truth may hurt but it’ll hurt more if someone else told that the person the truth and you told them a lie. It wouldn’t be right for that person and you’ll feel guilt and anxiousness and worry. Constantly. Another example, say someone is saying something about your best friend and your best friend asked you about it, the right thing to do is to tell the truth am I right? Well some people say no they didn’t because they don’t want to hurt their best friend’s feelings. But then again, you have that guilt of lying and not tell him/her. It’s a hard thing to do sometimes, to tell the truth. But you have to do it because it’s the right thing to do.

    1. I agree because if i was in the situation of my friend asking me i would prob tell them no cause i dont want drama. But then you say you will have guilt so that is a problem to.

    2. I agree with what Nick says here, that you wouldn't have to worry about any guilt at all if you simply just tell the truth. I like how he relates it to life and gives an example, because it's very important sometimes.

    3. I agree with Nick. If you just tell the truth you don't have to have anxiety or anything like that. He relates it good, and i could also relate to that. If your friend asks for the truth you tell them the truth.

    4. I agree with nick. He explains the quote very well. He explained it so well that I understand it so much better. I think he did well relating it to himself and giving examples. Good Job Nick!

    5. Nick's explanation was on point. I agree with everything he claims related to the quote. He did well as far as relating the quote to "To Kill A Mockingbird" and giving examples that made sense.

  3. This quote is great. But i think some people may take it differently than others. Personally, i think this means something that most people wont think of. If you have to lie about something, you usually make up stories about it. You end up lying to different people. All your stories you have to remember so you tell the same one each time someone asks about it. Each untruthful story turns into a web of lies and you have to remember the same things with every detail, so you dont end up telling different stories. Telling the truth is most of the time way easier because you dont have to remember the lie you told someone else. For example, (I dont know if they do this or not), if you committed a crime and get interviewed by law enforcement or whatever and they record the story you told, lets say you lied. They save this recording. Then they call you back in for you to tell the story again maybe a month later. Youre most likely not going to remember the exact lie you told. So on accident, you change it a little bit, but it makes a big difference. They just found out that you lied. This relates to the quote a lot.
Telling a lie is a long road with all these different twists and turns. Telling the truth is a quick, straight line with a start and end. There are always times where someone has to lie. Whether it’s big or small. But if it’s something that needs to be said or confessed truthfully, thats when you shouldn’t lie. "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything" by Mark Twain, is an extremely clever quote, and i think it should give out a big lesson.

    1. I agree with Collett on this quote. You have you remember the lie and keep telling the lie over and over. Eventually it becomes a web of lies and usually the story will get mixed up a little at a time and the lie will become a bigger lie and a bigger situation. Telling the truth is the best thing to do. And yeah this quote is really a clever quote and it gives a good message to other people out there that lie there way out of everything. I agree with Collett all the way on this one.

    2. I agree with Collett. Once you lie, you can never go back and eventually you have to add lies onto more lies and it becomes a crazy circle of lies. Telling the truth is very simple and probably something everyone should do more.

    3. I agree with what you said about this quote. I think the same way about it, that if you tell the truth then you won't have to remember lies you told someone else. Telling the truth is simple, not complicated, like you said, "web of lies." I like your example about committing a crime and getting interviewed and recorded by the police, then the police interview you a month later. This is something that happens in our world today, that's what make it a good example and explanation.

    4. I strongly agree with you blog this week, Collett! I really like how you said, "each untruthful story turns into a web of lies". This stood out to me the most because this is exactly how I interpreted my blog as well. I interpreted this blog as being caught up in lies. Which is very similar to yours! Good job!!

  4. Mark Twain once said “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” This quote says it all for our high school problems basically high school is all drama and it starts with lying and its sad because everybody is in each others business. And thats why rumors start. If people just came to be honest and strait up with people and applied this quote to their everyday situations then life would be more forgiving. Like i ma not going to point fingers but people need to start like judging. But people would be in less drama less trouble. If people just was honest and forgot drama just life would be a easier place.
But this quote can be used to a extent. Like if your best friends with somebody and you dont wanna be rude so you be nice to somebody. But you wanna be honest so you wanna avoid drama but you cant. So these can apply to some but to a extent.

  5. "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything," is a quote by Mark Twain. To me this quote means that when you lie and don’t tell the truth you will always have to remember what the lie was. But if you just tell the truth, you already know what is, so you won’t have to remember anything. This quote can even be related to our society and everyday things people do because everyone has the choice to tell the truth or not to. It is obviously the right thing to do to always try and tell the truth, but its not always easy to tell the truth. It can be very tough sometimes and sometimes it may be easier or maybe feel like its the right thing to do to lie. For example, in To Kill a Mockingbird, Mayela had to lie in the court case and say her father didn’t beat her, when we know he really did. It was tough for her though because she had to lie or else she would have gotten beaten again. But, it would have been the right thing to just tell the truth. Then she wouldn’t have had to remember the whole lie they made up for the case. This quote means to me that it will get you no where if you lie, and it doesn’t matter what the situation is, you should always tell the truth. An example from my life is, once i had to make a choice whether to lie or not to like, mayela. Then, it seemed like it would be better for my situation to just lie. But, then I realized if I lied I would keep having to tell more lies and always remember the last ones. So, i decided to just tell the truth and everything worked out for me.

  6. “If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything”- Mark Twain. I think this quote means that when you lie so much you get caught up in your lies. The truth will always be the truth. This can relate to society today because many people get caught up in lies everyday. For instance, say you told someone you were going to the doctors just so you could get out of plans with someone. Then, the next time you saw that someone they ask you how your trip to the doctors was or why you went, you wouldn’t know what to say which is being caught up in a lie. But, if you would have just told the truth all along, you wouldn’t have to worry about covering up the false information you gave out.
To me, this quote tells me to never lie. There’s no need for it. Being honest and truthful is the way to go. Why create lies fro yourself that just puts you in even more trouble? In my opinion, this quote relates to, To Kill A Mockingbird. This quote relates to the story when Atticus is interviewing Miss Mayella in the courtroom. Whenever he would ask her questions she would get super defensive and she would change her story every time. She kept getting caught up in her lies. Really, she was trying to cover up what her dad did to her by blaming it all on Tom Robinson. When really, he is innocent. But, since Tom Robinson is black, things did not go too smoothly. Most people looked down on Tom because of the false accusation made towards him. This quote is very relatable to this part of the book because if everyone wouldn’t have lied in the first place, there wouldn’t have been this big of a mess.

I liked how you said we get caught up in our lies too, because its true. So I think you did good explaining this quote and I agree with it.

  7. Mark Twain once said, "if you tell the truth you wont have to remember anything." To me this quote means that if you tell the truth and dot lie you wont have to try to remember the lie you told, you will just remember the truth or what actually happened. It is like when you tell a few different people a similar lie but they put it together with each other and your story doesn’t make sense it is obvious you are lying. sometimes you will forget the lie you told someone and when they ask you about it you will make a fool out of yourself by forgetting the lie. You might as well tell the truth because 99% of the time it is the right thing to do. If you always tell the truth you never have to worry about forgetting what lie you told what person.
I can relate to this quote in a few ways. I have been pn both ends of this as the lire and the person hearing the lie. I felt really dumb after getting caught in a lie one time. I had told some people I was going to my grandmas and others my mom sad I couldn’t go just because i didn’t feel like hanging out. As the person hearing the lie it is especially annoying when you know the lie is fake. Over all it is never a good thing to lie and you should always tell the truth.

  8. If you were in a situation when you lied, and you keep worrying about telling the truth, all that will be on your mind is the situation and you'll have to think of ways to change the truth. Sometimes letting the truth out, even though you don't want to, can make you feel so much better. A lot of people in our society lie on a daily basis. It makes things a lot worse. I can relate to this quote a lot. I have lied to save myself from even more trouble. People would rather hear the truth most of the time though. When it comes to friends and family, we catch ourselves lying about the littlest things, just to keep ourselves safe. Now I'm starting to learn that if you don't do anything wrong...you'll have nothing to feel obligated to lie about. Honesty is the best policy. :)

  9. Mark Twain once said,”If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything”. I think this means that you don't have to worry if you tell the truth, you won't have to live with guilt. If you tell the truth about something you don't have to remember it. If you lie, you will be thinking about it your whole life. Everyone thinks lying is always the answer and is better than lying. That isnt always true. If you get in trouble and lie things don't always work out if you are caught. If you tell the truth and confess to what you did you will not get into as much trouble. To go tell someone something you did, you will never have to live with the guilt for the rest of your life. You will start to think about it each day. If you just told the truth you would never have to live with that on you.
In life you need honesty and the truth. You are not going to get anywhere in life if you lie. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Mayella had to lie to everyone in the courtroom. She said that Tom Robinson raped and punched her in the face. Everyone knew she was lying, and she knew she wasn't telling the truth. Her dad beat her, she couldn't say that because she would have got beaten when she went home too. She probably has a guilty conscience that she didn't tell the truth. Now Tom Robinson is suffering because she didn't tell the truth. In my life i always choose to lie to my mom. She usually ends up finding out. When i lie, I always think i'm going to get caught so i think about the situation. If i just chose to tell the truth i don't have to think about it and I won't get into as much trouble.

  10. What this quote means is that if you dont lie you wouldnt have to keep up with them. When someone lies they have to remeber it because they have to keep the same lie consistent. But if you live a nice lieless life, you wouldnt have to remeber these things. Lieing isnt good for you it makes a different man or women and some lies you have to live with. Those lies can bite you in the butt.some people live life with lieing and dont let it bother them, lies can sometimes change your life in terrible ways. A lot of people dont even realize that lies they say just don affect them it affect their friends and loved ones. Some lies put you in situations you never want to be in. When you are in the situations, you make up more lies to cover up the old ones. You have to ask yourelf at one point ,when does the lieing stop. Does it stop when you ruin your relationship, when it makes your family won't nothing to do with you. Or does it stop when you hurt the most important person in your life. No one can tell you to stop you have to find that point in your life when you say enough is enough. What you have to tell your self is that do i want change in my life, do i still want to live this life.

  11. Mark Twain once said, "if you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything". This could mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. I truly thinks this means that if you always tell the truth you will never be caught in your lie you had to makeup. This is a great quote to live by. Everybody lies in their lives but some people live on lies. If you lie you have to remember the story behind it that you told to the person. I think that this quote by Mark Twain is a great quote. I can live on this quote for the rest of my life. People should all follow this amazing quote. It is great to live by. I can relate this to the story “To Kill A Mockingbird”. I can take this quote and it could be best placed in the scene with Atticus and Tom Robinson’s trial. Atticus caught Mayella Ewell and Mr. Ewell in a lie. When Atticus told them to keep repeating it over, he wanted to make sure they didn't change the story up. And thats is exactly what happened. I think this quote is perfect for this trial in “To Kill A Mockingbird.” i also think everyone can follow this quote once in their lifetime. I think this quote can be placed in truly any book or anything that is revolved around it. It is inspiring words and a life lesson honestly. Hopefully everyone will follow this quote sometime in their lifetime, like i will.

  12. Mark Twain once said,”If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.” I think this quote means that when you tell the truth you don’t need to try to remember it because it’s already in your head. What happens to you is the truth and it’s your choice to say the truth, not to add to the truth or take from it because then you’re twisting up the truth and making a lie out of it. What’s the point of lying if you’re just making life more complicated for yourself and others. When you lie, you have to remember that lie or someone will notice you’re lying and nobody trusts liars. It can be related to our society and everyday things people do. For example, workers at a job are expected to be faithful to their boss. In a family, you have to be faithful, tell the truth because then you won’t be living under bondage of trying to remember your lies. When your brother or sister lies to you and you find out later that all along they’ve been lying to you, it doesn’t make you happy. So why try to remember your lie when you can just tell the truth. This is what this quote means and how it can relate to everyday things people do.
This quote means to me that you have the choice to tell a lie or the truth and you’ll always know the truth because it is not made up, it’s real. When you tell a lie, you’ll have to make up lies after lies to cover up the truth. Lying hurts people, why put such a burden on yourself and others? An example from a film I saw where this idea was applied to,was a story about a girl who went to a singing camp. She made up a lot of things about herself and family because she wanted people to be impressed by her and make friends with her. She thought her actual real life would only bore people and so she made up lies. She kept the truth about her life to herself and then it was spilled out by someone who realized that she was making all these things up about her life. That person who realized she was lying found out the truth because the girl’s mom worked at the camp’s cafeteria. Her mom didn’t know her daughter was making up lies, so when someone asked her something about her daughter she said the actual truth, not what was made up by her daughter. That’s how that person realized and spilled out the truth about the girl. This is an example from a film I saw where this idea applies, and what I think about this quote.

  13. Mark Twain once said, “ If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” This quote means if you stick to the truth, the only thing you need to remember is that. A lot of people lie. When people lie, they need to remember the lie separate from the truth of the story. This relates to a lot of law in our society. There are many cases a courtroom goes through each day. When people are called to the stand, they have to swear to tell the truth and only the truth. They aren't allowed to lie under oath.
To me, this quote means that you shouldn't have to remember a made up story if you just stick to the truth. Telling the truth it so much easier than lying and having to remember a made up story. The quote can apply to me a lot. I know I've lied quite a bit. I still do in all honesty. I was not a good kid. However, Past experiences have helped me realize that telling the truth just makes the pressure of the hot air rise so smoothly off of your chest. When you lie, you feel like everyone knows you’re lying. You’re jittery, anxious. You’re afraid of the future outcome when people find out.
An example would be from the book we are reading, “To Kill A Mockingbird”. In the court, when Mayella Ewell is on the witness stand, she seems to be nervous. She claims to be “afraid” of Atticus. This is about the point where I realized she was afraid Atticus would get the fact that Tom Robinson didn't beat her out of her. It was extremely suspicious, especially since Atticus could keep driving new things out of her and confusing her. She was confused because she lied. If she would have told the truth, she wouldn't have been hesitant to certain question.

  14. Mark Twain once said, “ If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” The quote means that when you lie, you have to try and remember that specific lie. But when you tell the truth, you do not have that problem, so you don't need to remember anything. When you lie, you try to cover it up as much as you can so other people don’t find out that you're lying. A lie is defined as: “an intentionally false statement.” When you lie, if you tell multiple different lies, they can figure out when you’re lying. With lying, you have to remember the lie, so that when people ask you about the truth, you can easily cover it up. This quote can easily be applied to our society and people’s everyday life. For example, if you work at a department and your boss needs you to do an extra shift you say you can’t because you have to go up north to visit family. But then your co workers ask you why you aren't at work, and you tell that you’re going to Florida, and that’s why you aren't doing the extra shift. Which is another lie. You spent the whole day home watching movies. Then when you come into work the day after you were “visiting family up north” your boss fires you for lying. Overall this quote means, don’t lie. With lying, comes trying to remember the lie. To me, this quote means don’t lie. In the end, you either get caught, or forget the lie you first told. The worst possible thing you could do when lying, is tell multiple people different lies. Because in the end, they’ll most likely all know each other and tell each other the lie you told them and you’ll be in a huge pile of mess.
