  1. Nina Bawden once said “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults.” Let me start off by saying this is 100% true. Children often do have a much stronger concept of morality than adults and they don’t even know that they have morals yet! It’s crazy. You may ask what is morality so I might as well explain. Well the root word of morality is morals so morals mean is what choices are right or wrong. People come across many decisions in their life, whether they are younger or older. What you decide is based on your morals, what you think is wrong or right. Children have a better sense in morals. They were taught simple things. For example they learn not to touch the pan on the stove because it’s hot and they will get hurt. Or don’t take things that don’t belong to them because it’s wrong. Most adults now a days don’t think twice before stealing something, or doing something that is wrong. Most adults don’t have typical lives like others do. They do things that are against their morals. They don’t hesitate doing it and they don’t think twice unlike children. They know what is right and wrong and they think twice before doing something.

This quote relates a lot to real life. It relates a lot to my life. Growing up I had many morals that I didn’t even know I had. I knew what was right and what was wrong. But getting older you don’t think twice about some of the decisions you make. But before you would think twice, 3 times if anything. As you get older you start not caring what decisions you make. You don’t think twice like I said and thats basically why this quote means a lot to me cause it reminds me of me. It reminds me of how I used to be, I thought twice about my decisions but now I could care less what I choose. Just like how adults don’t think twice either when they make decisions in life. This quote is very relatable and very true.

    2. I agree with nick. I think he explained the quote good. When you get older you do think twice before decisions. I can relate to that. When i was a kid i just did whatever i want. Now i think twice. Good explanation nick

  2. Nina Bawden once said, "Children often have a much stronger concept for morality than adults." In my opinion, this quote says just what it states. Children do sometimes have a much stronger concept for morality than adults. For example, many times you can see kids use morality by choosing whats right and wrong, and a few other times you can see adults trying let their children know that something's are right and or wrong. If parents would give their children a little more freedom, they would be able to always use morality and get through whatever comes their way. When the class watched the movie version of To Kill A Mockingbird, we saw Atticus Finch, Scout, and Jem make many different moral decisions that changed the whole entire story. For example, if it wasn't for Atticus claiming that Bob Ewell lied about Tom Robinson raping Mayella Ewell, Bob would not have attempted to try and kill Atticus' children and they wouldn't have been in that huge mess. Also, Boo Radley made a huge moral decision to defend Scout and Jem when they were being attacked by Bob. If Boo had never stepped in to defend Scout and Jem, they would both most likely have been killed. This quote could easily be related to many more things in life that happen almost every day.

  3. Nina Bawden once stated that, “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults.” Through my perspective, I think this quote is very accurate. Children often have a better sense of morality than most adults. Why is this? Because they’re just learning. They’re not wrapped up in society or electronics. They’re just now molding into the person they’re about to become. They’re old enough to know between wrong and right but way too young to know anything about the real world. The real world is a big, scary place and they have not yet experienced it yet.
This quote can easily relate to my life and how I was when I was younger. I was a very spiteful and stubborn but besides that, I knew the difference between right and wrong. I was very straight forward. Which is exactly how I was raised. My parents were the the type of parents to always say “two wrongs don’t make a right”. I wasn’t familiar with growing up, electronics or our huge society. When my parents told me something that was right, I would listen and understand. When my parents told me something was wrong, I would listen and never do it again. This quote can also relate to maturity, no matter how old you are. Some kids are even more mature than adults. Age doesn’t define maturity, experiences and morals define maturity. Morality is an important aspect of life. It shows exactly who you are. It basically defines you as a person and makes you stand out from everyone else. Whether or not you’re young or old, morals will guide you through life. They help you become an individual and stand up for what you believe in. and standing up for what you believe is is what makes you, you.

    1. I totally agree with christina! It's true how she mentioned kids are learning and developing. Also I like how she related it to her life and how even though she was still stubborn and spiteful she still knew what the difference from right and wrong. Nice job explaining !

    2. I agree with all that Christina has said! You have proven your point that children are not too young to understand right from wrong. I completely agree that your morals make you an individual and helps you stand up in what you believe in. You well explained that children have a sense of morality because they're just learning and are being molded into who they're going to be. Nice Job!

  4. "Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults." This is a quote by Nina Bawden. I think this quote means that children think of situations as either right or wrong. Where adults sometimes have grey areas and think of the circumstances of the situation. Kids think more straight forward and are black and white. For example, if you were to ask a kid if murder is wrong, most likely they will say yes. Adults might also agree it's wrong, but they look at it differently. They might say well maybe its ok if they are defending themselves or if they have to do it. Children know something is either right or wrong because they don't look at all the different circumstances, so that's why i think they have a stronger concept of morality than adults do. Also the decisions we make are based on our morals. Another reason I think children have a better concept of morals is that they don’t have as many freedoms as adults do. Since adults have a lot of freedoms they seem to get themselves into trouble and start losing their morals or their morals start changing. Most kids try not to get into too much trouble because they are afraid of what is going to happen. So that is why I agree with this quote and think kids do have a stronger concept of morals than adults do.
An example of this quote from my life is, when i was younger I would always try and do the right thing. When I didn't i would be scared of the consequences that i knew were coming my way. My morals were slightly different from when I was a kid to now. I knew what was right and what was wrong. As i get older my parents give me more freedoms and its harder to make good decisions all the time. But like when i was a kid, I still try my best to have good morals and to make the right decision.

  5. “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults."-Nina Bawden. This can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. To me this means that children have more perspective on things than older adults do. Even though children don’t know a lot about morality it comes very quick to them. Morality is doing the right from wrong basically. Small and younger children do right and wrong things all the time. For example, it is wrong for not sharing with another child and its right when they do share a toy or anything with another child. An adult does not pick up on this as quickly as a child does. For example, when the adult grows older and wiser they know what is right and what is wrong. A adult making fun of another person is wrong and they know it unlike young children do. They can prevent it was happening quicker and easier. Children sometimes also know what the morality is of the situation and just try to test people for attention. This can relate a lot to the book To Kill A Mockingbird. I think Atticus and scout are the same exact person. But i also think Scout is very wise for her age and knows the morality of what's going on around her. I think Scout knows whats shes doing all the time but she is just too young to understand, but she does pick up on everything very quickly! “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults” This is a great quote and it is very true. Sure not always kids are stronger at it but most of all she is right. Nina Bawden was very clever with this quote and every adult should take it into consideration.

  6. “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults,” once said Nina Bawden. She meant that children think they know what's wrong from what's wrong. Children look at things differently. They haven't been through stuff adults been through. Kids have no morals sometimes. They do stupid things. When they see something hot, they need to touch it. They are touchy, children. There morals will change when they adults though. Most children do whatever they think is right. They don't look and think before they do something they just do it. They don't think twice about things. Parent always tell you think twice before you do things. That is what most children do not do. Adults usually don't know what is the right thing. They always think someone did something the children are wrong. Some children are right and thats why children have a stronger concept of morality than adults.
When i was younger i thought i knew everything. I think a lot of kids now do the same. I thought i was always right. Everything i did. Now i look and see that most of the things i did were dumb. My morals are different now i know what is right and what is wrong. For your morals it doesn't really depend on what age you are. You should know what is right and what isnt. To step in on a fight or to just be a bystander. Boo Radley had a moral decision in To Kill A Mockingbird. He knew the kids were in trouble when they were running in the dark through the woods. He could just let them get hurt by Bob Ewell or step in. In did the right thing and stepped in. Your morals all depend on yourself and what you think is right.

  7. “Children often have a much stronger concept of morality than adults”- Nina Bawdin. First I would like to say that I agree 100% with this quote. This is because you aren't born racist or sexist, You learn it either from your parents or from other people. It really is a terrible thing that people teach their children that different races are less significant that others. Also children have a very clear point of view on subjects like racism, sexism, or other moral decisions because of the fact that everyone is the same in their eyes. Children do not care if you are male, female, black, or white. For lack of better words children are oblivious to race or sex, they just want someone to pay attention to them. Children also often make more right decisions with moral decisions because they have no reason not to. Their lives aren't ruled over things that make them want to steal or lie. They just want to enjoy themselves, unlike adults who believe that stealing so they can have more will make them happy. Another reason that children make better moral decisions is because they don't have as much freedom as adults. Typically the more freedom you have the more you can get into trouble and make the wrong decision. As a child you rarely have t make tough decisions like the ones adults do such as telling the police on a friend or family member. Yet another reason they are better at making moral decisions is because they have not been exposed to all the bad things in the world yet. When hey are young and have not been exposed they can only make decisions on what they are taught is right and what is wrong. As of today I would hope that everyone teaches there kid what is right and what is wrong.

  8. What this quote means is that children are able to see the truth in things and understand other things because they are egar to learn. They try to grasp things fast and they try to take in a lot of information at once. They can see the lies in adults, even if adults think kids are gullible, doesnt mean they dont know what to believe. When you lie to them sometimes they know your lieing but they just want to believe you anyways. They do this because we the older people are viewed in their eyes as a person who will always tell the truth no matter what and never give false hope. But they dont realize that sometimes you have to lie to someone to protect them, even if that means you hurt them. Not everyone can just fess up to things they did wrong ,thats because people arent perfect not everyone can be that superstar, this kids dont realize . Thats why we have to lie to them sometimes. Kids can see people for who they are and adults cant really do that because adults worry and they think about things to much. Because kids are so simple minded they dont really think hard about things they just let out whay they have to say. Sometimes it can be that inspiration that an adult needs to get through their day. Children drve the world they give the world that boost. This is for the kids everything we do is for our future ,the future of mankind.

  10. Nina Bawden once said,”Children often have a stronger concept of morality than adults.” This quote means that children have a much better view of morality because they notice how people’s actions and words back up morals. Adults seem to talk and point out their morals and what they think about the concept of morality more than they actually seem to back up those morals with their actions. In a situation where this quote would be proven true is when teachers teach little elementary students about bad and good morals. Teachers can be lecturing little kids how to treat others with respect and love but when they’re on their free time they can be gossiping with other teachers about others. Kids notice teachers’ actions and in their minds they understand that the actions are simply either good or bad. As young as they are, they are straight up with their own morals because they know when they’re doing wrong or right. They’re much more honest about their own faults or mistakes than adults. The situation where a teacher lectures kids about good and bad morals, yet the teacher goes off gossiping with others about someone, proves the point. It proves the point because it shows how adults don’t take morality so seriously most of the time since their actions don’t prove it. Kids are the real deal because they take the concept of morality in their actions more than in their words. This is what this quote means to me and how this situation proves the point.
This quote means to me that children are no joke when it comes to morality. They’re honest about their doings and actions than adults. For example, The two children from the book The Mockingbird were growing up realising the morals of themselves and others. Jem was about fourteen years old and Scout was ten years old when they began to understand what the concept of morality is. They grew up in a little town where racial unfair laws against the blacks existed at the time in the world. Their father was a lawyer who defended a black person, so he always said that you never know how a person feels till you climb into their shoes and walk in them. They never understood him because everyone else went against Tom so the two children also were not respectfully speaking of Tom. Scout didn’t understand once, how her teacher from school can say that Hitler in Germany is a cruel, unfair ruler who killed the Jews for their outward references. Yet Scout heard her say something against the blacks and Tom at the courthouse. By this Scout understood that morality is a choice of doing right or wrong, that your actions prove what your morals really are. Jem understood this concept of morality a little before she did when he saw how Tom was guilty of a crime he never committed but because he’s black, he’s guilty. Both these young aged kids understand morality better than the adults around them. They put themselves in Tom’s shoes and began to see people’s morals through their actions towards people like Tom. They chose to respect people no matter who they are. This is what I think about this quote and my example from literature that applies to this quote.

  11. “ Children often have a stronger concept of morality than adults.” -Nina Bawden once said. I believe this quote means children have a better conscious when it comes to certain obstacles in life. For example, say a group of teenagers go into a 7-eleven and no ones in the store, odds are the group of teens are going to steal whatever they want. Depending on if they have a good head on there shoulders or not. Now if a child was on a road trip with their family and ran into the store before his/her parents and saw that the store was abandoned, that child would chose to walk out of the store and tell their parents. Most likely, the parents would keep driving until they found the next 7-eleven or rest stop area. That scenario that I explained proves the point that children often have a better concept of morality than adults. I know that my example with the teenagers doesn’t really reference to the adult part, but you can fill that part in with adults and it still works.
This quote means only one thing to me. Children have a better grasp of what is right, and what is wrong. At such a young age we are taught what to do, what to say, how to dress, and lastly what’s right and wrong. We are also expected to carry all of that information on until we can pass it on to our own. Unfortunately, some of us lose the most important aspect. The concept of what is right and wrong. The problem with my generation is everyone is willing to do whatever they want, when they want. And they don’t care about how they hurt on the way. As long as they’re getting what they want, they don’t care what happens. Same can be said easily about adults. Sometimes people are going through a rough time in their life and decide to forget one of the many things we were taught when we were growing up. And during that rough time, they steal, and do other illegal things. A child on the other hand will do the total opposite. If they get upset, they pout and sit in a corner or a place where there can be alone until they forget about the situation. Which is what needs to be done. They don’t dwell on anything. And this is why I was a little kid again. The toughest problem in their world, could be resolved so easily. But in the real world of what I know so far, it doesn’t work like that. At all.

  12. Nina Bawden once said, “Children often have a stronger concept of morality than adults.” In my opinion, this quote is absolutely true. I believe this quote said by Nina Bawden is true because even though it may not make sense, children do have a better sense of morality. Children have a better concept of morality because their kids and think twice before they do something. They do because they want to be more mature than they are in their parents eyes. They want their parents to think of how big they are and that they are old enough to do things such as they do. Kids have morals without even realizing it really. They develop their own morals, and really don’t even notice it. See now when it comes to older people, teens and adults, they don’t really think twice, they just do. They don’t think about what the consequences will be or what the end result could become, they just do it because they want to. They don’t think how will or how is this going to affect me, they just do it out because they find what they could consider happiness out of it.
This quote relates to my life pretty well. This quote relates to my life because as a teen I can agree kids have a better concept of morals. Not only talking about myself, but about seeing how some of my friends turned out as well. They make one bad decision and thats it, they just make more. They think because they did it once nothing bad could happen this time, but watch. Something bad can always happen. Kids don’t worry about this they just do as they are told and try to make themselves look better for their parents. However as time evolves, so do their morals.
