  1. Paul Tournier once said “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” What I think this quote means is that the people who achieve more will think they can do everything. It says “those who win are those who think they can” meaning they think they’ll achieve/gain more since they achieve/gain a lot before. Like a cocky person basically. They think they can gain a lot because they win a lot. That’s basically what this quote is saying. And if you think about it, a cocky person has the attitude of “ I can do this and that and achieve and gain and win a lot.” and the quote is saying those who win are those who think they can. Which is basically a cocky person.

This quote reminds me a lot of my society. Many people they think that they can do it all because they won something. Many people think that and sometimes, one time in our lives we thought that. But sometimes life isn’t always like that. Life doesn’t hand you things for free you have to earn it. Yeah once you gain/achieve/win something, you think you can do it over and over again like it’s a piece of cake but really you have to work 100 times harder and become 1000 times better. If not, you won’t achieve or win anything. It gets harder and rougher and people know a day think that it will come easy to them, but it won’t. And people need to understand that. But I don’t think people will until they experience it for themselves. That’s what I think this quote really means.

    1. I somewhat agree with nick here. I do not believe that telling yourself you will win makes you a cocky person. Bragging about it when you do is being cocky. I'm my mind this quote means you can win by expecting to lose.

    2. I do agree with Nick. I think he explained the quote very well. He also gave great examples in order to support his statement! I do think i understand this quote by Paul Tournier a lot better thanks to nick! Good Job!

    3. I agree with Nick. I like the way he explained his examples. What he thinks about the quote can be right. Cocky people do think they can win anything. In life you do have to earn it. Nothing will come free

  2. “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can” To me this quote means that you have to believe in yourself. You will never succeed if you always believe you wont do well. You have to have faith in yourself. If you are constantly doubting yourself and thinking you are going to fail you probably will. People fail i would say about 75% of the time because they didn't believe in themselves. if everyone believed in themselves and each other people would be able to do so much more. So many people have low confidence in themselves today because of the way they are treated by others. people are very unsupportive and sometimes make you feel like you can't do something but the only way you are going to be able to is if you believe you can.
In my life people have often told me i cant do something or that i will never be able to accomplish this or that. Quite honestly one of the greatest feelings ever is believing in yourself, accomplishing that and proving that person wrong. I believe that in todays society we need a lot more people that believe that can accomplish things and win than we have now. so many people believe that they cant win or do something because they have never one at that before. You always have to go into things believing you can in, because if you don't you surely wont win.

  3. Paul Tournier once said “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” I think this quote by Paul Tournier means that in the end, the people that never doubted themselves and never give up, win. They don’t always have to win a big shiny trophy, they just need the courage to believe in themselves. This quote can mean a lot of things to different people. Some, don't have to follow this quote any day in their entire lives. Others, follow it like its a law. If you ever doubt yourself you'll never get that first place or get the job or anything. Confidence in yourself will push you to strive to be the person on top. Take Olympian’s for example. They have come so far in their lifetime to get where they are standing right now. No injuries or anything will stop them. They are truly going to get the gold. Paul Tournier didn't mean you always had to get something nice. Just to always try your hardest and never doubt yourself at any point in time.

This quote can relate to me in many ways. One example that stands out to me the most is about my hobby and interest. Softball has always been a big part of my life. Since the age of 7 i've been playing all year round. Even though i've never actually heard this quote before, i've been actually following it my whole life. I always used to doubt myself when i was little. But, as i got older i realized that it was so much more than a passion. Softball can take me all the way to college, and that is exactly what its doing. This quote can be relatable to almost anyone and now i will remember this quote the rest of my life.

  4. Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This quote means to me that if you believe and try your hardest you will succeed you keep at it and over time and keep going. And it will give you that drive to do so. And when you have reached that goal of success you will have a greather feeling then ever have experienced it might not be as good as getting it handed to you but if you wait it will become better. That if you think you can you will start to progress and win and be better then you were before it s like practicing the more you put into it the more you get outta it.

A situation that i have experienced was a couple years ago i played baseball for a travel team and i just started pitching and i needed a place to show that i can pitch and in baseball when you werte my age you had a certin amount of pitches concerning your age and everybody was out except me because we have been playing in a torment and we were winning by one and they put me out on the mound and i was very nervous but i set my self mentally and physically to do so. And everybody was doubting me except my mom but i only need my self. And i pitched a perfect game no one scored and we played well and i learned that if you tell yourself you can do it no one can tell you wrong and these quote if defiantly something i can rember forever and relate to a drive.

  5. The quote " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." by Paul Tournier can mean a lot. You can never say you can't do anything. People that achieve and win life always have a positive attitude. You have to think you can do something to win. If you go into something with a negative attitude you are going to loose. You always hear people say “dont say you cant”. That is true if you are going to say that you obviously are not going to do it. If something is hard think positive and think you can do it and you will win. People in this world that are at rock bottom, still never give up. They are grateful for what they have and say to themselves i can do this. Those addicts, that want to get away from that addictive thing say they can do it. Most end up winning, and become clean. To some it up this quote means that it might not be this time but maybe later in life, the people that win are the ones that stayed strong and said “I can do this”.
I can relate to this quote quite well. All my life I have been told you can’t because you aren't this and that. Baseball is basically a mental game. If you think going into the game you are going to get killed by the other team, you aren't going to win. You have to go into the game thinking you are going to blow right through this team and crush them. If someone tells you “you are not going to get a hit off of us you suck”. Dont go into the game thinking you suck and you can't get a hit. I always think positive. Go into the batters box thinking I am going to hit the ball.

    1. I agree with what you have said about this quote! You explained it very simple but in a easy way to understand. I like how you said that you can never say that you can't do something and that if you go into something thinking positive, you'll win. It's true that this quote has a lot of meanings to it. Once again I like what you said about this quote and I also like your example.

  6. Paul Tournier once said,”Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” This quote carries out a message that simply says that those who win most of the time will get strongly confident in themselves and will start thinking they can win anytime they’re competing without doubting. The ones who lose most of the time will have this uncertainty in their heads every time they’re competing. They’ll think they have a chance to win but maybe not positively. I personally think that this quote is saying that sooner or later those who win most of the time are those who get prideful of themselves at some point. Pride can mean confidence which is good but when someone has too much pride in themselves, it can cause them to become selfish. What I mean by selfish is that they’ll think they’re the best and they might put others down emotionally in the competition whether competing on a team or individually. Like I said pride can be good because sometimes those who win could’ve been losing bad before, but then they motivated themselves to get better and win more. When someone wins, they get the encouragement that they can win the next time they’re competing so this pride/confidence grows more each time they win. This is what I personally think this quote means.
An example from my life when I experienced this was when I was in elementary school and we were playing soccer in gym. Someone on the team I was chosen to be on was a fast runner and they won a lot of games in sports because they’re a fast runner. Eventually during the game they would scream at me and my teammates that we’re not trying hard enough. They thought of themselves as the best on the team because they won before so they had a lot of confidence that they would make a goal and win. But they said some mean stuff about some of the teammates behind their backs and said that they’re the one who's the best out of everyone. So this experience of mine is an example of the quote because it shows how this person who was on my team got too prideful in themselves in winning because they’ve won before.

    1. I agree with what you said about the quote. I also liked how you explained. You said that people can get too prideful if they win a lot and I agree. I also thought your example of you in gym class was good too. So i think you did an overall good job with this quote!

  7. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can," is a quote by Paul Tournier. To me this quote means that if you keep winning at something your confidence will start to build and eventually you will just expect to win. But losing is good sometimes because it helps you get better and you might not always do great at whatever it is you're doing either. Everyone has days where they are just off and don’t play good. For example, the olympics. They have been on for the past couple of weeks now and if you have watched them you will see that even they mess up and most of them have been doing this their whole life. But, every time you do win your confidence builds more and more every time. Sometimes though it can be bad if your confidence builds too much. When this happens you might get a little over confident and start to brag about how good you are and expect to win every time, then when you don’t you get extremely mad. So what this quote means to me personally is if you keep winning your confidence will continue to grow as you win.
This quote can also relate to my life. When I played basketball in 7th for rec. grade we were one of the better teams. As we won we started playing better and better because our confidence would build. We started believing we could win and we won most of our games. This happens to almost every sport player because when they win it always feels good and you want to do even better next time so your confidence builds. So this quote is a good example for sports players and how their confidence builds as they win, but it can also turn bad if they become too confident in themselves.

  8. Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." I personally think this is a great quote. I think this quote says that people who think they're better than others, really don't succeed and become failures of life. For example, there could be someone in school that never does anything to others, but when he/she is around others, that person gets made fun of. However, when they're all older that someone that got made fun of will probably become very successful, when the ones that thought they were better than everyone else, they ended up driving garbage trucks. I can tell you right now, that I have been made fun of so many times, that my computer would explode if it tried to count all of those times that I was. I couldn't care any less about half the people in this school, and most of those people are just so immature, it's not even funny. I have big plans for my life ahead, and some days when I'm leaving to get to my job one day and stop at Mc Donald's one day for a coffee, I'll most likely get checked there by some of the people in my school that thought they were gods. The reason for this, is either because they just don't know how to act around people, or they just don't have much knowledge at all. This quote is completely true. People that think they're winners now, well, good luck with to them when they're done with high school in a few years and have no where to go, because all they might have cared about was when they were getting home to play on xbox or playstation or something. Some things you do in high school, can completely change what happens to your chance for a career, so don't ruin everything for yourself and/or your friends. One little mistake that's made, could become a huge nightmare before you can even snap your fingers.

  10. “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can,” -Paul Tournier. This quote i think can be taken in completely opposite ways. One way is that this means people who believe they can do something, will most likely achieve it. The other way is that people who always achieve something, that means they always think they’re going to win. I go with the first one. Way too many people bring themselves down all the time because they think they can’t do it. If you believe in yourself, you’re most likely going to reach your goal. Obviously if you’re going to be that person to say you cant do it or this is impossible, thats what its going to be. Some people will believe that this quote means if you win something once, you’re going to be cocky and full of yourself for the rest of your life. I think that can be true, but not for this quote. I think its specifically telling people to believe that you can do it, and you’ll win!

Today you see it all the time in todays society. People are always putting themselves down because they’re too nervous to fail at what they’re doing. If I’m about to take a test and all i think about is how im going to fail, its not going to help me whatsoever. I may as well write a big F on my test. What I’d really have to do it say that Im going to get a good grade, try my hardest by studying, and then see what happens. Even if i didnt do such a great job, itll show me to try harder next time. I think this quote shows that people should try harder to think positive about reaching their goal, and if they dont itll affect them!

    1. I agree with Collett on what she had to say about this quote. She explained it very well and gave more inputs on how other people may perceive this quote. Also, I like how she relates this to her life. Good job Collett.

    2. I agree with Collett's blog. she really went into full detail describing this quote and made me see more into it. I also agree with when she said the more determined you are, the more likely you are to achieve it. Another thing I like about this blog is how she relates it to society. She's right, in today's society everyone always puts themselves down. Great job!!

  11. Paul Tournier once said, “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” This quote can have many different meanings. I think this quote means that those who keep a positive mindset towards things will reach success. If you think negatively while trying to reach your goals, you will fail. But if you think positively while trying to reach your goal you will reach your absolute best. It doesn’t matter if you won or lost because having a positive mindset is being content with whatever you receive. Most people mistaken being positive for cocky or arrogant but I think being cocky is being confident. Which is an extremely good trait to have.
I have many personal experiences relating to this quote. In life, my family always told me to carry a good head on my shoulders. And that it does not matter if you win or lose all that matters is if you’re happy with yourself and you performed well. This quote can relate to my life through dance. Every dancer has bad dance days. The days where we want to quit. The days where we feel like we are bad at what we do. But, we all learn to work with these days. We know that just because it’s not our day does not mean we aren’t talented. Whenever I’m having a bad day at dance I tend to become extremely negative. When I have good days at dance I feel like I am on top of the world. When I have my good days I am extremely determined. I know all of my hard work will pay off when I am on stage. Another thing that pays off are my bad days. I learn so much from the bad days. I learn to become stronger and that I could not be happier doing what I do. This quote by Paul Tournier is a very motivational quote and has taught me that even on my bad days I should try to be more positive.

  12. " The quote: “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier has a lot of meanings. But the one meaning that was the most obvious one was if you try your hardest, you will succeed at ANYTHING you do. Another meaning that was clear as day was, if you think from the beginning that you can do it, in the end you will end up doing it. This quote can be used in any aspect of life. No matter if you are doing a race, a sport, anything. For example, if you join track and field for your school or any sport that requires your all. And when you go into a sport, you need to think that you are going to improve and do extremely well in the end. This has played a role in my life before. Mainly with the sports I have done. Last year, when I did Track and Field I went into the beginning of the season thinking I was not going to do good what so ever. And in the end of the season, I barely succeeded. I fully believe that if you get it in your head that you WILL do good in the end. This season of track, I have it in my head that I will succeed when the season ends. And I believe that I will do better. Also, if you go through life thinking you will never succeed, you are not going to go ANYWHERE. Absolutely no where. This quote will probably take a bigger effect on my life when I get out of highschool. Even now, and I am just a freshman, this quote impacts my life in a big way. No matter where anyone ends up going in live, you will always have to relate to this quote.
