" Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier
What do you think this quote means? What does it mean to you personally? Give an example from your own life when you have seen yourself or someone else experience this.
“Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” Those are a few words from Paul Tournier. In my point of view, this quote means that if you put yourself in a position that you think you could do a task, and you think you could do it well, you would automatically think to yourself that you are successful in that task. If you put your mind in the right direction, you would think that you could do anything successful. Many athletic figures fit into this quote. For example, just look at Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world. He put in his mind that he would win, if he put the right effort in. He trains as hard as he could, when the Olympics aren’t in session, to be the fastest and the strongest athlete on the Olympic track. From this example, I learned that if anyone puts the right effort and believes that they could win anything, or could successfully accomplish a task, you would think to yourself that you could do anything in the world. Also, this quote could relate to the academically talented, as well as the athletically talented. For many students, they have some type of competition with each other in the classroom. If they put in the right effort and thought into studying for that big test they have to take the next day, they would believe that they could “win” and get a better test grade than their opponent. So, this quote could stand for anyone who wants to “win” at anything, if they put in the right thought in effort to their task they want to be successful in.
ReplyDeletePersonally, what I think this quote means is that if you put in the right effort in a task, you would be successful in that task. Everyday, I have some type of competition in something.. Either in smarts or athletics. Sometimes I have competitions with my mind. By that, I mean accomplishing a personal goal or getting a personal record in anything. With all those things that I have in mind, I have to have the positive thought that I can complete it and I have to put in the right effort. That is what I believe this quote means to me, personally.
vinny you did a good job explain what you think this quote means and gave me a whole new meaning. I really liked how you said that "If you put your mind in the right direction, you would think that you could do anything successful" also, "In my point of view, this quote means that if you put yourself in a position that you think you could do a task, and you think you could do it well, you would automatically think to yourself that you are successful in that task." really good job explain the quote by paul tournier!!
DeleteVinny you did a great job explain the quote “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” I read your blog 2 times to fully get the whole meaning of how you're trying to explain what the quote means to you. I really liked it when you explained how and what the quote personally meaned to you. I really liked the part in your blog when you say With all those things that I have in mind, I have to have the positive thought that I can complete it and I have to put in the right effort. I really liked this part of the passage when you said this. I really honestly think that you're a great writer and you know how to break the quote up and to really explain what it means! Good job!
DeleteSooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." by Paul Tournier. From my own perspective , this quote means that if you put yourself in a position that you think you could do a job or whatever it is, and you think you could do it right, you would think to yourself that you are successful in that job. For example Tiki Barber a retired runningback for the New York Giants, he wanted to become one of the best and he did. All you have to do is put your mind to it and it gets done. You might face some obstacles but you shouldn't let them stop you from trying to do something and do it right and get it done. I feel that everybody should think and feel that they could win when it comes to things like school. School is important and that is what determines your future so if everybody thinks they can succeed in it everybody would get good grades and do what they have to do. That is what this quote means to me.
ReplyDeleteHi tyler you had a great idea.....
Delete"Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can."
ReplyDeleteI personally think that this quote means that if you always keep your head up & try your hardest and never give up soon enough you will achieve your goals. Many people let the world make them cold and take away there hope but if you keep thinking positive; all you want will soon be yours. Everyone says they want too see you do good but never better than them!! Which means in this world it all depends on what YOU do & how YOU do it.. so, as long as you think you can do something & you keep trying at it for your personal benefit you'll win at life..
I agree with this 100%. Everything you said was on point. Many people do let the world make them cold and not everybody notices that. I think you answered this quote very well and made everything clear.
Delete" Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." These words were spoken by Paul Tournier. This quote means that in life if you put yourself in a position that you think you’ll be able to succeed you will. But if you put yourself in the position that you think you won’t be able to succeed and that you’ll fail at whatever you’re doing you’re probably not going to succeed in what you’re doing. It sounds confusing but if you read it a couple times you’ll understand what im trying to get through to you guys. Personally I think that this quote " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can” relate to athletes more than a regular everyday human being. For an example when you’re playing a sport such as Football and before the game you say to yourself that todays gonna be a bad game, and that you’re going to lose and not get enough touchdowns to beat the other team you’re probably not going to beat the other team. That’s because you have it set in your mind that your not going to win so you’re not going to try your hardest to try and win. When you have something set in your mind that’s whats going to happen if you think negative you’re going to have a negative result, but if you think positive you're going to have a positive result. That’s what the quote personally means to me. See now when you set yourself a goal and you have your mind set on achieving it you will achieve it because you will work and work until you reach your goal. The only time you will not reach your goal is if you start off good and then slowly start to not care about the goal you set, thats when the goal you set will never be reached because you either got bored and didn’t bother with it anymore or you just felt like the goal you made was irrelevant to your life and just stopped. You have to think positive in everything you do because when you think positive you’re ending result will be positive trust me !! After writing about the quote " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can” their are many meanings for it but this is my meaning for it and what i personally think about it!
ReplyDelete"Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can," Paul Tournier once said. What I think this quote means is that if you don't have the mindset of winning, chances are, you're not going to win. You have to go in strong with a positive attitude and a winning mindset. If you think to yourself that it's a waste of time and there's no point of doing whatever it is because you think you're automatically going to lose is ignorant. I'm pretty sure everyone can relate to this. This can occur with almost anything, like sports for example. If you're going up against another team or person and they're much more experienced than you, bigger than you, and smarter than you chances are you're going to lose. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. If you go in there thinking you're going to win and you try your heart out you might actually win. It is always good to have a positive attitude and a strong will. This also means something to me personally. I play 3 sports, basketball, baseball and football. In all three I have never been on a team where we were undefeated. But that doesn't mean just because we lost some means we suck and should stop trying. You forget the last game and go into the next one with a winning attitude and pull out a victory. Dwelling on the past never made anybody successful in life. That is what I think this quote means to me and to everyone in general.
ReplyDeletei agree with your own definition of the quote. I also agree you have to have to mindset of winning to actually win. Like you said if if you know your not going to win you still have to try. You explained the quote really well and gave good examples. Good job
DeleteMike I really liked what you said. I thought the same thing. I also thought you had really good points. you also had good details . great job mike you did good
DeleteWhen Paul Tournier says “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can,” I think he means that when you think positive, positive things happen. Having the right mindset can really make a difference. If you believe you can do it, sooner or later you will do it. People will try to destroy your dream to achieve your goals but only if you let them. If you want something, no one will stop you but yourself. If you think you can win there is nothing stopping you from losing. Believing that you can makes a greater chance you will succeed. I think this quote applies a lot to sports. When you’re on a team and you’re going into a game, its important to have the attitude of someone who wants to win. When I play lacrosse and we find out we are going to be going up against a really hard team, it’s hard not to have the personality of someone who is going to lose. When my team and I did go up against a very proficient team, we decided to think positive and think about winning. When we started we were playing really well and the more we played the better we got and the worse the other team became. We ended up winning because we came in with confident thoughts and it showed in our performance. I think work ethic is consistent for both bad and good. The better you do, the more you want to participate. The worse you do, the more you don’t want to be apart of something. Its important to remember though if you are not doing that well, to still keep trying and not to give up. Everything we succeed at is determined by our self confidence. In all, positive thinking causes positive outcomes.
ReplyDeleteDarkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. This means that if its dark in a room the only way it will go away is if lights in there. There will always be dark in the room where the light doesn't shine but it won't be as dark. If you add darkness to dark it will only stay dark it won't become any brighter but if you add light to dark you will be able to see. the same thing applies to love. If you add more hate to hate you will just make it worse, you will never make anyone feel better. If you add love or give love to someone they will feel alot better then being hated.
ReplyDeleteHow has this had any effect on my life? well it has whenever i'm feeling down or upset i would never want someone to come up to be and be mean to me, i'd rather have someone come up and be nice to make be feel better. i also have seen many other people get their feeling hurt and i rarely see someone come up and be mean to them, they are usually nice and hug them to make them feel better. i dont even like to see people sad it is much better when they are happy and people are nice to them.
thats everything i have to say. thats what i think that it is, that you can't add the same thing to something to change it it has to be different or else it won't change. Also i don't like to see people be sad or even be sad and have people be mean to them. That is what i think and thankyou for reading.
Paul Tournier once said, "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." To me this quote means that you have to first believe in yourself before anyone else will. You're never going to win anything if you are the kind of the person who just sits there and accepts defeat. The first step to winning is believing that you can win. The losers in life are the people who gave up before trying to succeed. And all the winners are those who pushed forward and took that extra effort to give themselves the best opportunity at winning that they could possibly have. You can't have a negative out look on life. You have to be positive and believe in yourself. Even if you lose, well at least you tried. If you give something your one hundred percent effort and still fall short, well you're still better off than those who didn't try at all.
ReplyDeleteAn example of this quote in real life is all professional athletes. When athletes get injured their careers are always in danger. Some athletes just give up when they get injured because they never want to experience that injury again. Those athletes are the ones who hesitate to play with full passion and intensity. The ones who fight back and play just as hard, if not harder, are the ones who become multiple time champions and hall of famers. One of these warrior like athletes in Minnesota Viking's star running back Adrian Peterson. He is arguably the best running back in the NFL with the potential to become one of the best of all time. One example of his drive and determination is when he got injured in the first round playoff game a few years ago. He tore his achilles tendon which is an injury that usually ends or severely shortens athletes careers. The recovery time is usually over a year. Adrian Peterson was playing football again not six months later. Another example of a tough athlete is the Bull's Derrick Rose. He badly injured himself for three years straight now. But yet he still fights back and plays the next year at the same if not a higher level of intensity. Those two athletes are prime examples of winners in life. They got to where they are because they have the drive, determination, and faith in themselves to win.
