"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein What do you think this quote means? What does it mean to you personally? Give an example from your own life when you have seen yourself or someone else experience this.
“Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Those are a few words from Albert Einstein. In my description, this quote means that everyone is smart in their own way, but when you discriminate them, they would spend their whole life thinking that they are stupid. Well, everyone has their own way of expressing themselves, right? So, don’t judge them on their appearance. People discriminate another everyday on their looks, skin color, and the way they express themselves everyday, and they expect that person to be like them the next day. Well, that’s not going to happen. Now, going back to Einstein’s quote, everyone is a genius, everyone has potential, but if you judge someone on their way of expressing their smartness, they would automatically spend their whole life believing they are an idiot, because you had to prove them wrong in a rude way. So, I agree on what Mr. Albert Einstein is saying that everyone is very intelligent and everyone should treat each other equally as smart as they are.
ReplyDeleteThis quote had an experience, in my life. When I was in 8th grade, someone was bragging to me that they were in the National Jr. Honor Society. They said that it was only for the smartest and for the elites of the school. It made the person look like a total snob, in my stand point. The person also made me believe that I was stupid and I could never accomplish anything in life. the person was an honors student, I was an A-B Track student. So, what I did was that I worked a little more harder on my academics and I got the results that I wanted to get. I thought that the person was no match for me, grade wise. I felt equally as smart as the person and I thought, “Hey, if he wants to talk about me being an idiot, I’ll make him feel like he is a bigger one.” So from that day on, I felt like I could accomplish anything I want to do.
vinny, wow you really did an awesome job of explaining the quote "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” you gave really good reasonings and expanded my thoughts about this one quote. especially when you said "this quote means that everyone is smart in their own way, but when you discriminate them, they would spend their whole life thinking that they are stupid." real good job!
Deletevinny, the quote you explained up their “Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Those are a few words from Albert Einstein. Means many things to everyone cause they intake things differently. like while doing my blog I thought a totally different thing until I read yours. it like made me think of a whole new concept and its really good! I like the very end of the blog when you say "So from that day on, I felt like I could accomplish anything I want to do." I really like this and I don't really know why truefully I just !! Keep up the good job on blogs!!
Delete"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Said by the legend, Albert Einstein. I think this very powerful quote has many of different aspects but what comes right to me is that to not judge a book by its cover. Don’t judge someone that is incapable of doing something you can do. Not everyone is made to do the same exact thing. Everyone has their own specialties and something unique about themselves. Everyone is made to do something that is why you are put on this earth. It’s just your job to figure out what you are supposed to be or do. And you judging that one person are screwed up because they are going to feel stupid and upset that someone else can do when he can’t. I just think this quote is mainly to judge someone when you don’t have a clue what they have been through or walked through their shoes, it’s just not right. That is what this quote by Mr. Albert Einstein "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid,” I think in my book means. In my personal life this quote means a lot because that is how I met half of my friends today all of them are different and awesome in their own way. And that just taught me to accept people for whom they are, and that’s the best way to be in your life. It will get you so far if you are nice and respectful to one another. Also, if you judge someone right when you meet them how do you really know them? How do you know that they aren’t someone special and how talented they could really be? Just get to know someone before you judge them.
ReplyDeleteMartha, I completely agree on what you are saying about this quote. I liked how you compared this quote with "don't judge a book by its cover." No one should never do that, if they do not personally know them. To conclude, I thought that you did a good job on explaining this quote.
Delete"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein What do you think this quote means? To me, this quote means that everyone is smart in their own type of way, but when you make fun of them, they would spend their whole life thinking that they are stupid. people are judged on how they look or what race they are and people put it all together and say that if someone looks like that or is that race their stupid that is not true. Everybody has their own talents that makes them smart. everybody is not the same everybody has different qualities about them that make them smart or funny or pretty or anything. The only opinion that matters is yours if you think your stupid then you try to challenge yourself and prove to your self your not smart.thats what this qoute means to me
ReplyDelete"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” These words were spoken by Albert Einstein. To me this quote means a couple things. In my perspective i think that this quote means that when someone tells you something negative you kinda take it to heart, even when people sAY THEY'RE JOKING YOU MIGHT SEE IT AS JOKING AROUND. YOU MIGHT TAKE IT SERIOUS MAKING YOU FEEL WORTHLESS AND STUPID. Everyone is smart in their own ways but no one ever seems to notices the pro’s in your life only the con’s. people judge others by what they see and what they think others can’t do without even knowing them. You really have to know the person in order to know the truth, you can’t just walk up to you don’t know anything about them and judge them it’s rude. To me personally it means to judge someone on the outside without even knowing how they truly are inside, cause what you see on the outside may be completely different on the inside you don’t know. that’s the thing!! I see this happen all the time people judging other on their appearance and how they dress and stuff. It’s not right but people don’t seem to care about how other people feel only how they feel. Some people could take this quote personally its a good one. This quote could actually relate to To kill a mockingbird because everyones judging boo radley without even knowing anything about the kid, all they have heard were rumors that other people came up with. IN my eyes why would you judge someone and basically make fun of them if you wouldn’t want the same thing done to you.
ReplyDeleteAlbert Einstein once said, "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” What I think this quote means is that everybody has their own set of capabilities but they cannot do everything. No one can do everything. Judging somebody for not being able to do something and making them feel stupid should make you feel stupid. People are judged everyday for not being capable of doing things. Like asking a person who is in a wheelchair to run a marathon and then calling making fun of them because you know they can't and will never be able to. That's how the world is, judgmental. But, you have to learn to live with it. If the fish doesn't listen to the negativity, he can't feel stupid and will continue being a genius. A person can be a rocket scientist, a surgeon and they can even find the cure of cancer, but there will always be someone who will judge them just because they couldn't be an all-star quarterback. The world is cruel. This quote relates to me in a way. I'm pretty athletic and I think I'm pretty smart. But as of right now, my grades aren't all that good. If someone says that I'm not smart because of my grades I'm not going to feel dumb. What counts is that I know I'm smart. You cannot let someone get to you.
ReplyDeletei really agree with this answer. i can relate too your personal experience a lot.
Delete"Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein. I personally think this quote means a lot. everyone in this world was made differently & is able too do certain things because thats just who they are. not everyone can do everything but everyone can do something that describes who they are. I think i can relate too this quote a lot because people seem too judge me for not doing so great in school when im actually very intelligent & a report card isnt going too determine wether or not im a good person. i think school definetely does make kids lose hope because of how much people just look for book smarts instead of someone being life smart. It's just how certain peoples brains work & how they think.
ReplyDeleteThe quote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that is stupid.” said by Albert Einstein means that everyone is smart and special in their OWN way. A fish not being able to climb a tree is an example of this. Some things have the incapability to do things that others can. This quote can relate to social injustice, one of the most important themes of TKAM. It does because black people can’t be white. They simply cannot change what they look like or who they are. Although this quote does not only relate to abilities, skin colors, or religions, but personalities too. You shouldn’t have to change who you are because you can’t do something someone else can. All in all, I think this quote means that everyone is potential. We are all smart in our own special way. This quote can relate to the entire world, no matter whom, where, or when. This quote relates to me specifically because I can do some things that many cannot. I can play the drums, and many people cannot. I won’t say others aren’t smart it is rather difficult and I am still learning. This quote also relates to me because I am not very good at getting my thoughts down on paper. Again, this doesn’t mean I’m not smart, it just means that I am smarter in other subjects. This also relates to my father, for he is very good at art, but not so much math. It just so happens that my father was a finalist in the artist of the year in NYC, and was the artist of the year in Thom’s River. That is what this quote means to me, and how it relates to me and those I know.
ReplyDeleteAlbert Einstein once said' "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” To me this quote means that you can't judge a person by a goal that they will obviously never reach that it'll do nothing for that person except give them a negative attitude. It will make them feel like they are not good enough and make them feel like a failure. I think this quote also means that you can't expect someone to do something thats not possible, or believe in them to be able to do it either. When they can't do this impossible thing they're going to feel like they failed you and they're never going to get past the fact that they let you down. If you aim high you hit low, but if you're setting the high goal for that other person when they hit low they're not going to see it as a positive thing. They're just going to be disappointed and not try any more because they won't think they can do anything.
ReplyDeleteAn example of this from my life is always aiming for honor roll in school and my parents wanting me to get that too. I don't get honor roll but i don't fail and i also come pretty close to it. They are happy that i'm not failing. But they're even happier that i get solid b's. I'm not disappointed that i dont reach honor roll because solid b's are good enough for me. Its way better than i used to do in middle school so i'll take pretty good grades any day.
