  1. William Shakespeare once said “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves”. What I think Shakespeare said was really we chose our destiny. How you say? Well we do have decisions that we make every day and we do have choices that we make. For example, school. You have choices like doing your homework or participating in classes or not. If you participate in class and do your homework and get good grades then you’re most likely going to pass. But if you don’t do your homework and get bad grades then you’re most likely going to fail. And if you fail then you’re going to get held back. If you keep failing you’re most likely not going to pass high school and probably drop out. Another example is dropping out. You can drop out when you turn 16. It’s a students choice and if you drop out of school, you’re most likely not going to find a job and won’t be successful in life. You’re basically choosing what you’re destined to be. It’s all based on the actions you take.

This quote relates to me because i had many choices to make in my life. For example, I had a choice to either go to college or join the military and so did my brother. I didn’t know what to do but my brother decided to join the military. He didn’t like school but still passed high school. When he went to OCC he knew that college wasn’t for him so he joined the military. I remember that after boot camp and he came home, he had so much respect from my family and his friends. That’s when I decided that I want the same respect that he got so now I decided that after I graduate high school, I wanna join the Marine Corps. And I want to become a Marine. As you can see, my brother chose what he wanted to do. And basically chose his future. We chose what we want to do in life and what we chose, determines our destiny.

  2. William Shakespeare once said “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves” This quote means a lot of different things to different people. But, to me this is a very simple quote to live by. What i think this quote means is that instead of waiting for something good to just unexpectedly happen in your life, you should just do it yourself instead of waiting. Instead of waiting for you to get a goal in soccer you have to work hard at it and work your way up to getting that goal. You don't get things in life handed to you, you get them by basically earning them. This can relate to anybodys life very easily, whether it was in the past or present, you need to earn your way up there.
This quote by Shakespeare relates to my life tremendously. For example, when we were going to the World Series for softball in maryland, my coach had to pick two captains throughout the entire trip. The trip was in August, yet it was only April at the time. I wanted that captain spot more than anyone on the team. Instead of sitting around hoping my ability would get me somewhere, I decided to help myself. I came to every single practice, did not miss a game, fundraiser, anything! I was dedicated 100% and helped my teammates by being a leader! That August I was the captain that led my team to the big gold trophy.

  3. William Shakespeare once said “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves”. This quote really does say a lot. To me, it tells us that only we can control our future. If you want something, you have to go out and get it. You can't just sit around and wait for it. Things in life are earned. In order to earn things you have to work for it. Life is way to short to not go for goals and reach the stars. This quote not only inspired me, but I'm sure it has inspired many others to follow their dreams as well.
This quote can relate to my life in a huge way. In my opinion, I'm very impatient. There is nothing I hate more than waiting. I'm a go-getter. If I want something, I go for it. I was always told life's to short to wait around. We're only getting older so why not live your life while you can. Life's to short to not reach for the stars and follow your dreams. So, why waste time? Clearly Shakespeare is telling us to go for the gold, so let's go!

    1. I think the way you explained this is deffinitely on point. I thought the same thing. That we can only control our future. The way that Shakespeare put it, he says that we hold our destiny. So instead of sitting around dreaming for what we want, we need to get up and go after what we want. Because sitting around will get us nowhere!

  5. William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." By this I believe he means that we choose our future. No one else does exept you. If you want to be an actor one day, for example, you will work really hard and do whatever it takes to fulfill your dream. So, don't let others influence you in the wrong direction. Do what you love and what you think is right. But also you cant just wait for tour destiny to arrive. You have to go and get it if you really want it. So make good decisions and follow your dreams because we each hold our own destinies.
This quote can relate to my life because I heard a song once that said, this is my life. It is not someone else's life it is mine. So I should make my own decisions. I should follow my heart if I think it is the right thing to do. So when I make decisions I try to go with my gut but also decide what will be best for me in the future. The is because I hold my own destiny and I don't want my destiny to be ruined just because I made a wrong choice. So I try to make good decisions. This quote is in my life all the time because I am always making decisions wether they are little or big.

    1. I totally agree what your saying how we should choose our future because our drive determines on what we do with our life and can be one of the most important thing we could ever do. And I know everybody has to makes these chooses basically daily

    2. I agree with you on what you think about what Shakespeare meant when he said this quote. Like you said we hold our own destiny in our own hands and I exactly think the same way. You also mentioned that decisions affect our destinies. I agree that big and little decisions play a big role in our lives when finding our destiny.

  6. Well Shakespeare is saying that if you wanna do something then you can only do it yourself you need to set our own goal you need to be committed and what you want is right in front of you not behind or faraway its right in front of you and no one can take it away from you or give it to you its you and you have to have that drive for what your destiny holds and when you have worked for that you finally get after all the hard work that you have reached it will be more fulfilled then you have ever felt before. And its basically saying your the only one who can achieve that goal because its your destiny and your drive its no nobody else.

The blind side I am gonna use as my example a teen ager that has a skill a very valuable skill and he pushes him self to the limit and he dosent have all the choices that every normal kid has but he learned he had a dream to play football and become big he barely new he had a skill and he just listened pushed himself and in no time he graduated high school and he had collages drulling over him because he pushed himself and reached his destiny.
Sorry if movie is a little off.

    1. I totally agree with your response Robby! I like how you used, The Blind Side as your reference. The movie really does go with this quote. The boy goes for his dreams and becomes extremely successful. I think everyone should end up going for there dreams. Only happiness can come out of it! Good job!

  7. William Shakespeare once said, “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves”. I believe this quote tries to say, you won't get anywhere in life if you just sit around. You have to work at things to make them successful. For example, Steve Jobs didn't just stop at computers, he invented new technologies that people use every day. If it wasn't for his technology, I wouldn't be typing this blog on my Ipad. What I mean is, Steve Jobs worked on his company to make it incredible and successful. This relates to a few experiences in my life. For example, I worked hard all season to help the marching band and be better at what I do in marching band. With all the effort put in, we were all successful and reached our goal of how many points we get at the competitions, and how well we play for just performances. Another example, would be me playing an instrument in general. For concert band, I play the trumpet, and to get better, I put a lot of practice time in. Hopefully I can put enough work into this so I can sound, count and play music perfectly. Personally, this quote by William Shakespeare is something we should all go by.

  8. William Shakespeare once said, “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves.” I think this quote means that we ourselves have a destiny to determine. It is our job to determine our own destiny, not somebody else. Shakespeare says that the stars don’t hold our destiny because he was trying to tell us that we are all different so our destinies are different too. There is only one you in this world so all the choices you make can lead you to your destiny. I think he means that we need to determine our destiny ourselves instead of thinking something or someone will do it for us. Destiny in other words is what the future holds for us or what we are made to do. If destiny is within each one of us then we’re going to have to find out for ourselves because it won’t come by itself. It’s not going to work unless we search to determine our destiny. This is what I think William Shakespeare was trying to say through this quote.
This quote can relate to a story in history. Back when Adolf Hitler was putting jews in concentration camps and torturing them, there was this one girl Anne Frank who hid with her family and another family in an attic of her father’s workplace. For they were jews and they hid there. Anne would write diary entries about her life in this attic. It was pretty terrible because they didn’t have enough to eat, and they lived in fear. In one of her diary entries she mentioned that she hopes to impact or change the world somehow. She liked writing and she wanted to influence others by her writings. I don’t even think she knew that someday her diary entries would be discovered and put into a book today all over the world. She was never failing in hope and so this led to her destiny because even when she ended up in a concentration camp, she still wrote in her diary no matter how bad her life was. She didn’t depend on the stars to hold her destiny but instead took destiny in her own hands.

    1. I agree with you and what you said. I agree with what you said about choosing our own destiny, not some one else. I also liked your Anne frank example. When you said she didn't depend on the stars to hold her destiny but instead took destiny into her own hands. That was a good ending.

  9. William Shakespeare said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves". I think this means that whatever you do now controls and will affect our future. You can’t just sit back and wait for opportunities to come. You have to put yourself out there. Do good in school. If you don't do good, you can't get a good job in the future. Every little thing you do can affect what happens to you in the future. Not just school, with your family and everything. When you have a big test and you think you don't have to study because its so easy. It turns out you forgot everything and you fail. You can fail the class. That isn't good for college and your future. Everything you do can affect what you do. If you want to be a pro athlete you have to earn it. You're just not going to get it, you have to earn it.
I can relate this to myself and any professional athlete. If I never tried out for this elite baseball team i might not be where i am at today. I became such a better better player because of my great coaches. I had to work hard to be on one of the best teams in New Jersey. All professional athletes had to work so hard to be at the top. They needed to beat so many other good players to the top. Always try your best to be the best. “Always try your best because you never know who is watching”.

  10. William Shakespeare had a good way of putting this quote. “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves.” To me, I think this means that if you want to get somewhere or do something that makes you happy in life, then you have to put yourself out there and make it happen. If someone tells you not to do something you love for a certain reason, maybe because they think its not popular, you don’t listen to them. If you like doing something, than don’t let them stop you. And it’s not just that, because a lot of quotes mean the same thing. This also means that if you sit on your but and dream about what you could be or do when you grow up, you’re not gonna pursue that dream. If you like singing, go post a video of you singing your heart out, showing that you don’t care what anyone thinks. You have to make your dreams happen, because they’re not gonna happen by themselves.

This quote relates to me because when I think about everything I can become when I’m older. I have no clue what I want to be yet. A lot of teenagers do have an idea of what they’re striving for. I always think about the different things I can do. So I try a lot of things. I wouldn’t necessarily say try, but I look up different things and learn about them. Mostly with animals. By doing that, I figured out I want to have a profession that has to do with animals. So William Shakespeare was right. It’s in ourselves to make our destiny true.

    1. You explained what the quote meant well. I completely agree with you that people need to put themselves out there and make it happen if they want to get somewhere in life. I also like the way you related this quote to your life.

  11. William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." This quote means that you are in control of your own destiny. As people, we hold our own fate and are in complete control of our future. We can look nowhere but our own mind to find the answers for what we are to do in the future. In the quote “the stars” are a representation of the outside influences that try to change your destiny for you. No matter what type of situation you are in, the ultimate answer lies within your own mind. It is true in all situations. Things as simple as deciding on what shirt to wear in the morning, to major decisions like what to go to college for, or if you even want to go to college. It all adds up together to your ultimate destiny, and they are all decisions you should make yourself because its all about what you really want.

In my own life, the idea of this quote is something I always live by. With all major decisions, I remind myself that the outcome of my choice is my own decision. In high school you as a student you are expected to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life. I know that whatever I decide will affect my entire future. Making this choice will result in the outcome of my destiny. From this point on, anything that I do can change my destiny, and its all because of myself.

  12. What William skakespear ment by his quote qas that we the people make our own destiny. For example some people depend on their parents or fqmily to do things for them but when they are gone they wont be able to find their own destiny. We cany always depend on everyone else for shaping our futures but we have to depend on ourselves. Great riches arent acheived by getting everything handed to you but some people have to work for the things they do. Nothing is handed on a silver platter in this world you make it or you sink. There are people who make it by look but there is some potential behind it. To be a great person you must work on your mind set for years. Some people can be a born leader but that comes from the right parenting and the righ mind focus. People must go to school to understand the world and if you dont try in school you wont suceed in anything. Shakespear said that your answers arent in the stars but they are in your heart and in your mind. The only way to know what the right things are is by being a good person

    1. I agree with Joe. I think he explained it well. People do depend on their families to do stuff for them. I sometimes depend on my family. You have to work hard to be rich. I think Joe answered the question good, and gave good examples to support his answer

  13. When William Shakespeare quoted, “it is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves” he meant that you control your own destiny. You should always be your own person and follow your dreams. You can be just about anything you want to be in life, if you put your mind to it. Shakespeare was trying to tell people that they can achieve anything. People often get discouraged because something seems too hard to do or accomplish. We always look to someone else to solve our problems for us when we should be looking in ourselves for the answers. This is true for every situation you are in no. matter haw simple the situation is it is always up to you to make the desision that is right for you.
This quote applies to me in many ways. I always try my best to make good decisions on my own. In high school you are expected to decide what you want to do with your life. Any decision whether it is to do your homework or not or to skip class can affect you for the rest of your life. That is why people say high school is some of the most important years of you your life, almost any decision you make last your whole life.

  14. William Shakespeare said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves.” This quote can mean a million of different things, but the first thing I thought of, was choosing your own fate. When you get faced with a challenge, some people lie outside and look at the stars and automatically figure out what they have to do.People think looking at the stars, will help you discover your fate and where you need to go in life. The truth is, its destiny. The stars have nothing to do with anything that involves your fate and destiny. When deciding your fate, it is YOUR life so YOU decide what path you will go down in life.
A poem by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, has a very similar situation. Both the main characters parents are trying to decide their children's fate, when the children want to be in control of their life. Throughout the part of the poem we read, it is very noticeable that Romeo and Juliet want to be with each other but since their families are feuding, they are scared to see each other. The two families don’t want to see their children happy with someone from the family they despise. But fate brought the two together for a reason, and it has to take a little while for both families to see and notice the reason.Knowing and hearing of this poem since I was in seventh grade, I was told it is about a tragedy and two deaths or the main characters. Unfortunately, as soon as the children died, the parents stopped fighting and realized the two were made for eachother.
