Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
*That do you think this quote means?
*How does it relate to an experience in your own life?
I think this quote means that instead of following where everyone else has gone, figure stuff out on your own and make your own path for people to follow you. Also, I think it could mean that instead of conforming to what everyone else does and says to do you can break that chain and make people conform to what you’re doing and how you do things. So instead of listening to what people tell you do do, and how to do it, go ahead and do it the way you want to do it and make them think about the way you did it and if its a better way than how they do it. Say if your boss tells you do to thing a certain way, trying to do it a different way to make him think if your way is better than how he does it.
ReplyDeleteThis relates to my life because in 7th grade, my math teacher told me how to do my math problems a certain way, and i showed her the way that i did it and she started to learn learn how i did my work because it was easier. She said that she saw the way i did it once and she didnt like it, then i showed her a quciker way to do the problems and she loved it becaue it was a quicker way to solve an easy problem.
Josh I totally agree with you to make people follow you instead of you following other people. Thats a great way to put things and I also liked how you explainedthe qoute good job.
Deletei really liked this blog, you seemed to explain exactly how you feel. I also liked how you put in your own experience.. Good Job!!!
DeleteWhen the famous lecturer, essayist, and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson says “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail,” I think he is referring to all of your own life choices. It takes courage to not do what everyone else is doing and choose your own decisions and to follow through with them. We make decisions everyday and some of them lead us on the right path while others end up bringing us to the middle of nowhere. The decisions you make today can impact your whole life and its important to choose what you want and not what everyone else wants you to. Taking the first step and showing everyone that you can make your own decisions for yourself can encourage others to do the same and start their own path. Its crucial for a successful future to choose the decisions that are right for you and are going to pay off later in life. This can relate to my life because when I was choosing what classes to take for school, all my friends were choosing the same class so that they could be together. When it was time to make my decision, I chose a different class than them because I knew i would enjoy a different elective and it would be beneficial towards me when I am going to be looking for colleges in high school. Its key to think for yourself and to choose what’s right for you and not anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this blog you really explained how the quote relates to you and your life. The only thing that I think that you need a little work with is explaining what the quote means to you. Otherwise everything else is perfectly explained and presented in a good manor! You are really good at writing blogs and stuff very good!
Delete“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” These words come from a man named Ralph Waldo Emerson. In my point of view, this quote means that you, and only you, can control your own life. It’s like the “leader” and the “follower”, you can be your own leader or your own follower. You can lead your life in any direction, good or bad, better or worse. In this quote, it says to leave a trail. That “trail” that you're leaving behind is what people will follow and choose what their life should end up as. So, this trail makes you have followers, in a figurative way. These followers want to go to your path and make their lives worth living. To conclude this paragraph, this quote means that you can choose what your life will end up like, if you choose the right “path”.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, this quote plays a some-what role in my life. In my life, I always wanted to make people happy. That was the only thing I wanted to do to make people to like me. I always followed their rules and did their dares. Soon, I felt like they were taking advantage of me. I had to make a change. So, I took my own path and held my head high. When they ever told me to do any ridiculous dares or follow any ridiculous rules that could get me in trouble, I would just say no, no if, ands, or buts. With that decision I just made, I made myself more happy about myself and I don’t care about what people would think about that! To conclude my thoughts, this quote makes me who I am and what my ability of being a human.
Vinny I think you had a great reply to this quote. I strongly agree with what you said about choosing the right path. Many people do not choose it. And in your second paragraph was an amazing example in my opinion. All in all, I think you had a great reply to this quote.
Delete“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” These words were from a man named Ralph Waldo Emerson. From my perspective I feel that this qoute means to me that you should go with your gut and your heart so you do'nt get in trouble. For example if your friends are doing something bad don't do it with them to try and fit in go with your gut and do what's right. It's basically saying that choose the right path and do good in life or take the wrong path and end up in jail or prison or even dead. You should always follow the rules and not listen to your friends because they will just get in trouble. My mom always tells me to choose my friends wisely because true friends won't stab you in the back when you all get in trouble.I go with my instincts when i'm with my friends because I know that they aren't true friends. For example one day my friends were throwing rocks at an old abandonded house and they told me to I said no i'm not stupid enough to do that and get caught by the cops and get in trouble and then I left and went home.I'm not perfect don't get me wrong yea I make mistakes but when I do I already know the consequence but i'm a kid of course I am going to mess up.This qoute takes part in my life because I dont like to say no to people and make them mad but sometimes I kinda have to so I don't get in trouble but this is what this qoute means to me.
ReplyDeleteTyler, I completely agree with your answer. Everyone should follow their heart and go their own way. You should always follow your instincts as well. I liked how you also described on how you said no when your friends told you to throw rocks at a house. That shows that you are your own leader and follower by doing that. So to conclude my thoughts, I agree with your answer 100%.
DeleteI agree that you should follow your gut instead of following anyone else. If you do, you do face consequences and sometimes you find out who your real friends are in the process. Your example shows that doing what your friends are doing is not always the right decision. The decisions you make today determine your future and going with what you think is right can make all the difference later on in life.
Delete“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” These words were from a man named Ralph Waldo Emerson. To me this quote means to do what you think is right and maybe do something different than all of your friends. For an example if all of your friends are going to a huge party and you’re not sure if it’s the right thing to do, you might not go and ski it. Cause in the end what you thought was the wrong thing to do was actually the right and safe choice. So it relates to the qoute cause you’re making a different decision to do something different instead of being the follower in the group. I also think that it means to stay on the right path in life, life causes you to make tough decisions and if one of those are to go off the path thats what you might have to do to be successful in life. It might not feel right at first but in the end everything will equal out and be okay. To me i think that this means that you should make the right decisions to go onto the correct path and make it far in life with those decisions that you had to make. This quote relates to my life big time. For an example when i was maybe 6 and noticed that the kids who acted up and thought that they were cool. got in trouble a lot. At the time a lot of kids thought that they all needed to be cool so they acted up like those other kids to be one of them, but not me. I made my own path in life and school to do good and not get sucked into their pack and become one of them. Eventually a lot of kids started doing what i was doing just cause they noticed that it wasn’t worth getting in a lot of trouble to be “cool” it just makes you look dumb. The other kids and i noticed that it’s not worth all the yelling and detentions for being called cool because to tell them the truth none of them were “cool”. So this quote means a lot to people in many different ways and this one is mine!
ReplyDeleteBreAnna is strongly agree with everything you have said. This is an awesome response and I think you had great reasoning! You had no mistakes in your response and everything went smoothly! Great Job!
DeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said “ Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I believe that this quote means that don’t follow after anyone or anything just be yourself. I mean it could relate going into the woods and you want to go off trail. Also the part about leaving a trail I think means that you could get to worked up about your self so you just have to turn around a few steps. Like if you think your so cool doing your own thing that you think about trying to overcome other kids and you lose part of your mind. This could relate to me when I start talking about hipsters. I'm always thinking how I'm not a hipster because i like to be my own person and not in a group. I do have a group of friends that are like me though and i do have some hipster friends as well. Sometimes I get carried away in my thoughts about how they dress and I really have to mind my own business. But most of the time I try to just ignore most hipsters, except for my hipster friends. Also One of my step brothers is also a hipster, and i just ignore the fact of that and think of him as a normal person. All in all, the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “ Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail,” was a great quote and is very relatable.
ReplyDeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said "do you not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think this quote means that you should always take chances, and shouldn't be afraid to try something new. If you get second chances in life make sure you take them, not everyone gets them in life. So consider your self a lucky one. If you want to try something new go right ahead and try it, that's how legends are made. Never look back when exploring something new just keep moving froward. Do not try and follow other peoples steps by walking in the trail they made you. Take a chance and make your own path. Try your hardest to do your own thing and do not worry what anyone thinks. Love the life you live the life you love ! Because as long as you try your hardest and do your best that's all that matters. Make your own path and do not let anyone tell you it's not good enough. Because everyone's best is better then perfection.this relates to me so. Because now a days everyone try's to be like everyone else. Buying the same clothes as someone famous or popular. And I never want to be that person. I want to do my own thing and not care what anyone says. Be a role model not a follower
ReplyDeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said “ Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I personally believe this quote means that you need to do what you want to be happy. If you live your life the way you want to and don't follow other peoples paths you will have a happy heart.
ReplyDelete& don't follow other people you will be much more happy with your life and the decisions you make.
