*What does this quote mean to you? How does it relate to
to situations or obstacles you have faced in your own life? Give an example
from a movie, book or history that could relate to this quote and explain how
it does.
In *Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone* Albus Dumbledore says at one point *"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live". I think this quote means that you shouldn't ever forget your dreams and always live your life. I believe it also means that no matter what your doing or where you are always stay your self and don't let people shape you into something your not but what they want you to be. Therefore to explain more, some people will try and push you down and make you feel bad about yourself but it's up to you whether or not to get back up and fight for what you want and live your life proceeding your dreams. When the quote says "it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." That can also mean while your proceeding your dreams you can't forget to live your life and be who you are many to be. Always chase your dreams but in the process be you and do it your way. This quote relates to me as well. It does by I always struggled with school as a child and still do in so,e ways now. But that didn't stop me from trying, it made me try harder. In 5th grade I wanted to get high honor roll, I would of been happy with even just honor roll. So I tried hard on test, made my sister study me, and did flash cards. That year with all that hardworking I finally got high honor roll for my first time ever. But throughout the process I didn't forget to be me and who I am. I still hung out with my friends and went places. That's how e quote relates to me.

DeleteIn Harry Potter “The Sorcerers Stone”Albus Dumbledore says at one point “It does not do to dwell and forget to live”.This quote means to me that don't dream too much because then you will expect them to come true.Don't forget that this is real life and dreams don't always come true.So don't give up on things that can really happen.Just do what you have to do to make those dreams come true and make it the ways its supposed to be.But make sure you pay attention in the real world.In history this quote can relate to Martin Luther King.He dreamed that Colored and white people had the same rights.He dreamed too much and wanted his dream to come true.He has gotten shot for wanting his dream to come true.The thing is he did the right things and did the good things.I think he was a good man and if he could see the change in the rights he would be so happy.Martin Luther King is someone who changed the world but slowly and overtime.It is sad that someone could feel so badly against him to shoot him.People remember MArtin Luther KIng for the rest have their lives because he changed the world by following his dream and living in the real world.He knew he had to pay attention to the real world to get his dream to come true.The way he did what he did is amazing and i will never forget her.In the end Martin luther King is a good man and he resembles this quote perfectly,also you can dream but not too much so you forget that this is the real world.

This quote means that it’s alright to fantasize but not to the point where you aren’t living your life. Our dreams are like a remote control to a toy car and we’re the car. They take over our minds and we can never forget them. For example, we all have a celebrity we look up to. We all have a dream to meet that person and we dwell on this dream all the time, when really it may never happen! We’re so focused on this one dream that we forget to live our life. I can relate to this quote a lot. I look up to so many big named people but, one of the people i probably look up to the most is a softball player named Jennie Finch. Jennie Finch is a 33 year old softball player. She is best known for her pitching skills and some of her achievements. Some of her achievements are, she is a two time olympic medalist, two time world cup champion, and a three time world champion. She is one of softballs most dominant pitcher. I look up to her for being as successful as she is and all of her achievements and i dream to meet her one day all the time. Instead of looking at videos and pictures of Jennie Finch doing what she does best i’m at home sitting on the couch watching her when i can be doing what she is and trying to be a successfull as Jennie Finch. I’m not “living my life”, i’m dwelling on dream that may never happen. That’s why we should not dwell on dreams and forget to live. In conclusion, in Harry Potter The Sorcerers Stone, Albus Dumbledore says at one point, “ it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”.

I think the point Dumbledore is trying to say is to stop worrying what your dreams are and try and focus more about life. Say if someone wants to become a professional Basketball player and they dreamed of doing it. Most likely that person won’t become a basketball player. So he is trying to say stop dreaming and realize that you have a life to live. Another example is when someone is going to take a test and they got previous 100s on all their tests. That person decides to not study because he knows he’ll pass it. But then he fails the test. It relates to the quote because he dreams he can pass any test but then he realizes a failing test grade can affect your grade, as well can affect his life. He dwelled on dreams and forgot to live. I think this can really be a good quote to look to because it can help us with so many modern things. Say if you wanna eat Mcdonalds but realize a salad is healthier, than you are relating to the quote and if you choose mcdonalds, you are dreaming and it can affect your life if you don’t eat healthy. So really the point of all this is really try and make the right decisions and know that life is short and live it out the most you can and if you dwell on dreams you're wasting your time. As you can see that is what I think Albus Dumbledore ment in his excellent quote from Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone.

What I think that Dumbledore is trying to tell us is that do not think that dreams are actually real and just pretend that you never had that dream before. What I also think that it could mean is kind of what Kyle had said which was to stop worrying about your dreams are and try to focus more about life in sentence 2 of his response. This quote kind of relates to my life a little bit. This is because just when I was about 13 or 14 years old I had a scary dream about these bears that had attacked my house and I was in the dream and I looked out the side window and a bear, was right there in front of the window this had made me jump in my sleep to where I could feel it and wake up. T hen the next night I kept on talking about it all night on how I might I could get the dream to come back somehow but instead I thought of something that goes on every Saturday morning I go to bowling which is part of my daily life not a dumb scary bears dream theta I had which is not even close to be related to my life. Last thing is kind of like relating to a movie which was the new Wolverine movie they came out with last year in 2013 at around September or October even. T his is a good example because the main character dreams of a girl who was on the X-Men team that he had to kill in which he had loved in another movie when she had become bad because of a guy named Magneto the old guy with the helmet so no one can read his mind. Really this is what I think that he is trying to say in his quote "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live".

I think this quote means that you can dream but not forget to live your real life.Most dreams don’t come true so don’t think you can make anything happen if you dream of it. Life is about getting put down again and again. We have to work our butts off everyday to make some of our dreams actually come true. Dont get me wrong dreaming is way better because it can be simple like owning your own business. Never having to worry about people getting hurt unless you want that stuff to happen.But keep in mind they are just your dreams and we shouldn’t dwell on them, we should work to get some off our dreams come to real life. I would love to live my dream but i can’t i have to face reality . My dreams are way better but i cant think about them because i have to worry on what's going on around me in the real world.Like right now i wish i could just sleep all day because when i am dreaming no one bothers me and i can do whatever i want and escape my real life. My life is like rollercoaster because I never get to stop twisting or turning.Like recently i have been so busy i dream about just stop time to breathe and relax and gain control over my mind again. this quote is like an eye opener because i can remember where i heard it from. i was watching a movie and it was about your dreams coming true and you were in control but at the end you realize that you just wanted your real life back because all the craziness makes you who you are. All in all this quote is a good quote and makes me open my eyes and stop dreaming and start living.
ReplyDeleteI think Sandy did a great job with her response from Albus Dumbledore. I like how she said that you eventually must face your reality and that you can still dream anyways. I also liked how she related her life to a roller coaster with ups, downs, twists and turns. I also like how she said that you need to work to make your dreams come true. All in all I think she did a pretty stupendous job on her response.

What this quote means to me is that rather than spending all your time dreaming of things you should do you should just go and make your dreams come true. That instead of saying you are going to do something greats you should go and do it already. It relates to a few situations that have occurred in my life. One of these, for example, would be when I was younger. I always dreamed that I would be more successful at school but during the time I never found the motivation to push myself in school and become a better student. That is until I found a good enough inspiration, which was a dream job. I found out that I always wanted to become a great chef that I wanted to cook. But, in order to achieve this goal I also realized I would need to do a ton better in school. So, I started to study harder, I decided that I should ask more questions in class, that I should actually do my homework and classwork. I was putting my dreams into action and instead of only dreaming about them I was making them happen. An example of this from a movie called "Ratatouille." In this movie a young rat named Remy has always perspired to be a cook even though he was, well a rat, he was a dreamer. Then one day he got the chance to do this in a restaurant called Gusteau's when he sees a boy ruin a soup dish and Remy fixes it. Getting caught on his way out of the restaurant the boy and Remy become friends and in order to cover up the boy's terrible cooking Remy hides in his hat and tells him what to do. Eventually at the end of the movie Remy has his very own restaurant and has made his dreams a reality.

He had nicely described on what the quote had meant to him and how it had also related to his life in some point of time in his past. Though I really think that what his had been was very good.
DeleteI agree with Alex in everything he wrote. You should go out and make your dreams come true. You can't just sit around and wait for it to come true. You have to make your dreams come true. Never dwell on what you want. Always live your life and never dwell on anything.

I think he means that you cant live off of dreams. dreams are sometimes meant for like a goal. but by living in a dream your whole life it isn't gonna accomplish anything. by going after your dream in the real life is better then dreaming it would come true. one of my dreams is to be able to graduate high school. but I leanred the hard way that wishing on a dream to just come true isn't gonna work out if you don't try to go after. so I reliazed by not doing anything wasn't working and was actually hurting me more then actually going after that dream myself. Reality you need to do something not just think about it. As she said you have to work at something in order to accomplish it.
DeleteAlbus Dumbledore once said from the harry potter series "it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" means you shouldn't just focus on your dreams. Unless your planning on making that dream come true. Reality is so much different and harsher than dreams. Dreams are more nice and very outside the box and reality is more black and white in a sense. I dream of many things. For a more happy life for myself but dreaming wont make anything change. I have to make my life suitable for me in order for me to accomplish my goal of being happy fully. If you dwell on the "what ifs." life will not move forward in a way you want it to.

To me this quote means that if you dwell on what you would like to happen, can can’t make it happen. For example, if you dwell on getting a good part in the play, you can’t practice the part you want and make it happen. You will be too caught up in the moment to make it happen. If you dream too much, you’ll get your head caught up in a bunch of things that didn’t happen. You’ll forget what’s right in front of you. I also think this quote means that if you want too many things, you’ll forget what you already have. You can get so caught in what you want. You won’t be able to think about anything else but that one thing you want. I can relate this to my life because a couple months ago, a very close friend of mine moved. I always dream when he will come and visit again. Although I do miss him a lot, I have to stop thinking about it and think about what I have in my life right now. I have many great friends and I have my family. I need to get my mind off of thinking about him and think about reality, like studying for my midterms next week. This quote relates to a movie I saw called Frozen. In the movie the main character, Anna, is excited about the castle opening their doors again. She wants to meet a guy and get married. She gets so caught up in this that the first guy she runs into, she just loves him. She didn’t get to know him or anything. *Spoiler Alert* In the end he ends up betraying her and he tries to kill her sister. If she wasn’t caught up in her dreams, she would’ve gotten to know him. Realize what you already instead of what you want.
ReplyDeleteI think this quote "It does not good to dwell on dreams" is a good quote especially being at the age that were in now and college coming up . This quote to me means that you have to,just live you cant worry about the future or the past just live in the moment. If you dont you will have some issuses occurring in your life thats not going to be good for you in the long run. My second year of second I often use to do that I use to dwell on wat could of been instead on what I had and it occured issues that I was trying to avoid such as failing and not going to school simply because I was mad and dwelling. I knew I had to better my self and move on and enjoy that year. That year I met some pretty good people that Led me on a good path and that I had the best laughs with it was great. I know if I wanted to succed I had to move on and I did just that. Alot of people make mistakes in there life and thats when there promblems come in its not that they have or made them its that they keep dwelling on it and they wont move on. Its very vare in some cases highschool but that shouldnt been people often stress about college and how there grades are and what there suppose to happen how they can change and all the rumors going on. Alot of people mess up but wen they dwell on it thats wat becomes a problem. I think this quote has a good message to kids . Everyone should,consider living in the present not the past or future but the present they would be better off in life.

What I mean by this is too dream big. Also if you can dream it you can basically do it never say never. I've been put down in life but you just need to get right back up no matter what will happen. Nextly I think everyone has something to relate with this quote it means just don't stop trying an dream big and try to succeed as much as you can in life. This really relates to my life a lot. It relates because I am a dreamer I always want to do stuff big and better than what there is.
