I think this quote means that if don't try your best at what you do then you will never know the skill that you could of shown. If you don't try you don't learn because you learn from your mistakes and of you could be stuck you have to live with the guilt and it could haunt you forever even though it sounds rude and mean its the truth. This phrase is valuable because it pushes you to do better to be you and do your best and make yourself progress and not even progress do it for you do it for your family your friends. It should make you progress.

DeleteWhat I think this quote means is that if you don’t try out or if you don’t get involved you will miss a shot of a good experience. He is encouraging you to get out there and do what you think will be fun. Go out and try out for drama or run for an election. Do things you want to do and have fun with it. If you don’t then you’re honestly missing out on a lot. What I also think this quote means is live life to the fullest. Try new things. Go out and get involved in new things instead of doing nothing. If you don’t take shots at things, you will miss out on that opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThis quote personally relates to my life because I just started high school and there are so many clubs and activities you can do and join. During the summer I decided to join marching band. I thought at first that it was the geekiest thing ever and I thought I wasn’t gonna be good at it. The first time I showed up I felt out of place and I felt like I didn’t belong. But everything was new so I decided to stay in the band and continue what I was doing. At first it was hard cause I didn’t get it but now I feel like marching band is a part of me. The whole marching band is my family and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! In the beginning I wanted to quit and I’m glad that I didn’t. Cause if I did I would have missed out on a lot of things. This quote is 100% true. So go out and try new things because you don’t know what you’re missing out on.

ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to my life very well. When I was in the first grade, I started dance. I've been doing it for about 8 years now. When I was in fifth grade, I got extremely sick. It stopped me from doing a lot of things and I didn't dance for a while so eventually I just quit. I told myself that I'm not good at it anyway. After some very long and hard thinking, the following year, I had the courage to sign up again. I had lost a lot of my ability so that made me try harder than ever. I literally never stopped dancing. I put my all into every performance and never gave up. Eventually, I was put into advanced classes and I'm making my way up to the top. This quote has taught me to always work hard at what you want.

In my opinion, I think this quote means to give something a try, and it will at least give you somewhat of a chance of succeeding at whatever you're trying to achieve. For example, if you are nervous about a test and really think you’re going to fail it, just give it a try anyway. At least you can say you tried and hopefully got a good grade on it. I can relate this to my life, because there are just some things i’ve never tried that i might actually succeed in or like. For example, i actually don’t think i’ve tried enough types of foods yet, and if i do, I probably wouldn’t be as picky as I am now with things I eat. If I try more foods, I would probably not think so badly about some of them, like pesto which is probably really good. Also, I’m not a big fan of playing football, but if never actually try to play it, I won’t be able to enjoy it as much as I would if I was playing it every day. This quote can give a lot of meaning and can change people’s opinions on many things in life. If it doesn’t change the way someone feels negatively over something, then they can’t overcome it and succeed.
ReplyDeleteI think this quote means that if we don’t get out and try new things then we’re going to miss out on a lot of adventures. New things that we try or begin to learn, I call that an adventure you might miss out on because it something that you never experienced before. If you don’t go out and see what categories you belong to or might be interested in then you’re missing out on 100% of fun. You must try things you never done before but I mean good things that will influence you in a good way. For example trying out for some sport you never played much before, or picking an instrument you want to try to play. It doesn’t have to be a sport or in the musical category, it can be something you think you would like but not quite sure about. Like Wayne Gretzky said,”You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” So this quote is simply saying if you don’t try out something you’re interested in then you’re going to miss out on a lot.
ReplyDeleteWayne Gretzky’s quote relates to an experience in my life when I was in seventh grade and I was wondering about joining the school’s drama play. I wasn’t sure about trying out for it but I pushed myself into joining it and I did. I didn’t want the main character’s parts in the play but instead wanted to be in the background, dancing because I thought it would be the easiest thing to do in the play. I went to every practice but then stopped going because I didn’t think the play would be fun if you’re a background dancer. Then again I started to come to the practices and soon the date of the play was drawing nearer. When that night came, where my friends and I had to finally perform the play, it turned out really awesome. Even hours before the play came, I was already having a awesome time with friends and a bunch of new people I met. The play began to start and we had to perform, it turned out that I was having more fun than I thought I would have and I didn’t regret going to the practices and showing up on the day of the play. This quote relates to my experience in life when I was deciding whether not to join a school play and that was one shot that I took instead of missing out on it.

ReplyDeleteI can relate this quote to my own life because I've had past experiences with not trying something. For example when I first join the ROTC program for Central. I thought that I would be laughed at for wearing my uniform. Also I thought people would think differently of me. But two weeks into it I love it. I'm so glad I decided to do it. Another thing is football. I tried it out, I didn't like it. So I stopped doing it. But what if I did liked it and never tried it. I would always regret that then. Therefore you should always try everything. Even if people say you can't do it. You can if you try hard enough.
I agree with Jon you have to try stuff before you can tell if you like it or not. I tried football to and didn't like it. You can always try and fail. And you can always try and succeed.

ReplyDeleteThe quote can relate to me a lot. Sometimes, I’m really scared to do something I want to try, Like realistic drawing or story writing. It can be really hard, and you never know if someone’s opinion is just them being nice or telling you the honest truth.But, If you don't try, you’ll never know. So I have to take the chance with people and learn that constructive criticism comes in various ways, whether it be Over-niceness or rudeness. I risk it and I write and draw. Usually, people DO genuinely enjoy my works, and that boost my self confidence a lot. I’m really happy that I do take chances and I’m not afraid to show off my artwork most of the time.

So I was a little nervous. But then I thought, if I never try it I will never know if I like it or not. So, I tried it and I really enjoy it now.
Life is full of chance and missed opportunities. When one fails to take a leap of faith, and miss an opportunity, which was once attainable, they are only hurting themselves for the future. Although life’s leaps come with unexpected twists and tribulations, they also come with lessons and shape the foreground for the remainder of one’s life. As Wayne Gretzky once stated, “You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” so, why not put oneself out there and take an unregretful risk? Hence, it is not worth wasting life rocking in a rocking chair, moving constantly but getting nowhere. Getting out there, and taking that leap of faith, offers the aptitude to get off of that rocking chair, and reach an ideal destination in life. If you don’t go out and try different stuff you will never know if you like it or you are good at it. If you want to go out for a sport that you never played before or even thought about playing try it anyway. It can’t hurt to try. If you don't go out and try stuff you might miss opportunities in life that could affect your future.

If something comes your way and you don’t take it then you might one day regret not taking it. You definitely won’t get very far in life if you don’t take a chance. You’ll never know what you can make of yourself if you never take a risk and go for it. Life is so short and you should try to make the best of it and take every chance that comes your way and give it your all. Also, wouldn’t you rather fail, at least knowing that you tried then failing by your own choice? There;s a lot of chances I could of taken and a lot of things I could’ve done. I will never know what could’ve happened. This quote opened my eyes and made me realize how many chances I should’ve taken. The meaning of this quote is not to be afraid to fail, because if you don’t try, you do fail. Meaning that if I go to present a project for extra credit, but am scared to and don’t try to present it, I don’t get the extra credit just because I didn’t try. Therefore, I fail in two ways. One way being not going for it, and the other is not getting the extra credit in the end. In other words, if I were playing basketball, and I wanted to go for a basket but didn’t, I unknowingly failed.

The quote fits best in my life by not saying, and saying how I’m feeling. Like for example if I get in a fight with my friend and I keep my mouth shut instead of talking about my problems. But if you try, there is always a chance you could succeed in what you’re doing. A basketball player doesn’t think that he is going to miss his shot. But he wouldn’t know if he didn’t shoot the ball. If you don’t at least try at anything, you could miss out on a whole different opportunity or experience.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to my life because there are so many things that i haven’t tried. Like a while ago i wanted to learn how to skateboard. I had my friend try to teach me. When i tried to i wasn't good at it at all. I would go so slow, not have balance, and i would trip and fall. I just wanted to stop trying because i thought i was embarrassing myself. But i wanted to learn so bad. So i kept trying. Now i'm better at it and its a lot of fun. If i quit i would have never known that i could do it right. I think everyone has something they have wanted to stop trying to do, and ended up trying to figure out if they regret quitting. So i think this quote means to never lose a chance in doing something.

What this quote means to me is that if you don't try at something you never know if you are good enough. ReplyDeleteThis quote applies to my life very easily. I didn't think I was good at a sport but when I wanted to try out for the sport at school. But i didn't want to get hopes up playing and trying out. I knew tons of girls would try out and be so much better than me. So it turned out that i ended up not trying out at all. I was very upset but i knew wasn't going to be able to do it. The following year i decided to go with my gut and try out. It turned out that i made the team as a starter and got the coaches award for the season. I was very proud of myself. I've known this quote for a couple of years now and it does get me through a lot of obstacles in my life. Revolving almost everything i do 24/7. DeleteI believe that the quote '' You always miss 100% of the shots you don't take '' holds very true to me. If you don't try to reach your potential then you may never know what your potential truly is. Growing up you are always taught in the frame of mind that you should live life within your boundaries. I have friends that do some odd things for fun that most people don't do, but then if you try it then you realize that it can actually be fun. Most people I know started doing a sport because they were nagged to do it either by friends or family. Once they started doing it they realized that they were really good at it and it could be something of a lifestyle for them. I am still on that road trying to discover what I can do with myself, though this quote gives me a whole new standpoint. I know that so long as I take the shot there is always a possibility that I can make it, and if I don't, I can always take another shot in a different direction

ReplyDeleteThis quote can relate to me in many ways. One way is when I first met Angie. She had just came back to central after the storm and was in my science. I had remembered who she was from before but had never really talked to her. I started talking to her a little each day and then found out we had a lot in common. We eventually became friends and now she is one of my best friends. If i had never talked to Angie in the first place, I would have missed out on one of the best friendships I’ve ever had.

It has taken me as far as now being able to play 7 instruments because someone offered to teach me. I am also much happier that I take all these chances and live life to the fullest. I have made lots of friends and found something I love, music. Also I was asked to join marching band by a friend and it has been the best thing in high school so far. I have made losts of friends and learned so much already.
What i think this quote means is that if you don't take a shot you are going to miss anyway so take your chances. I think that if you dont take any chance you wont be able to get your chances. In live you need to take chances to be able to succeed. If you have an chance for something go for it because you might not ever get that chance again in your life. Many people dont take chancrs when people give it to them because they dont wanna do work and they think that their parents are going to support them for the rest of their lifes.
