Dr. Suess once said "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter"
That do you think this quote means? How does it relate to an experience in your own life?
Dr.Suess’s quote “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don't matter” means to me that you should say what you want and be true to yourself. The people who judge you for what you say/do won’t matter in your life. And those who accept you for what you say/do then they are the ones who matter in your life. I also think that what he means by saying this quote is that people who judge you for who you are and what you do honestly aren’t your true friends. But those who don’t judge you for what you say do matter in your life, and those are the kind of people who you need in your life.
ReplyDeleteThis quote means everything to me and has helped me alot. In the past people used to call me names and judge me for no reason. I would listen
to what they said about me and did absolutely nothing to defend myself. And I took what they said to heart. But when I heard that quote, I stopped listening to them and I realized that those people are not my true friends and they are nothing to me. They don’t matter in my life. And that’s what Dr.Suess taught me with this quote.
I really like what you think this quote means. i took the things people judged me about to heart too. but they don't matter, like you said. I also started to defend myself more. I dont take judge mental words to heart anymore. Because if they were actually my friend, they wouldnt judge me. People who arent a true friend, dont matter!
DeleteI agree because your points were on point like you cant let kids just boss you around and and the people you care about they will only thing good thoughts and let the people that dont like you think how they want their not gonna fail you for being you all you have to do to sustain a good relationship is to be yourself give that friend a good reason to be close with you cause your always your self i know i went through a stage were i wasnt my self and you look back at yourself and you say i was dumb now lets hope i be my self and have good friendships.
DeleteI completely agree with nick! He gives great examples that can occur in real life situations. His response really helped me understand the quote better than I did before. He gives great facts to support the quote. I think he explained it the best!
Delete"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." To me this quotes means, despite who you come across in life always be yourself. If someone doesn't like you for who you are and how you express yourself then they don't deserve to be apart of your life. People who accept you for who you are the people who no matter what, will always stay by your side. That's the meaning of a true friend. You shouldn't ever let someone change who you are. What comes natural to you and how you express your abilities are what shapes you as a well rounded person. You shouldn't have to throw any of that away to fit in.
ReplyDeleteThis quotes relates a lot to my life. When I was in sixth grade, I let the wrong people change me. When I became friends with these certain individuals, they changed my whole perspective on things. I became a totally different person. I would act and dress the same. Until finally I met my best friend. She showed me the true meaning of being a "friend" and accepted me for who I really am. We've been friends for almost five years now and I couldn't be happier to call her my best friend. Dr. Suess taught me to always be yourself. NO matter who comes and goes throughout life.
Dr. Seuss once said, "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." To me, this quote means to just be yourself in life and don’t care about people who say otherwise. If people were never themselves and followed others all the time, there would be no expressing of each other, and everyone would just be the same. If this happened, none of the world would be exciting, interesting, or full of ideas because of how boring everyone and everything would be. This quote brings back a lot of experiences in my life. This doesn’t really happen to me, but if you are just acting like yourself one day, and someone laughs/makes fun of you because of it, why follow or listen to them? Just be yourself and say what you feel! You don’t have to act like or be like someone else if you don’t want to. This whole conversation goes along with peer pressure too, because of people pressuring others to do or say something they don’t want to. In my opinion, it just wouldn’t be right to act like someone else because of something like peer pressure, because it doesn’t show who you really are on the inside.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your input on this quote! I really like how you said if everyone followed everyone else there would be no self expression. you taught me the true meaning of this quote. I now look at this quote in such a better way. you also taught me it's always good to be yourself. way to go!! great response!
DeleteWhat doctor Suess means by this quote is that we are who we make ourselfs. He was saying this so that people know that we make our own choices. Another way to say it is that don't follow the crowd and make your own path. A famous quote for this meaning is be a leader not a follwer. When he says the ones wbo matter don't mind he means that they don't care what you do, they just appropriate you for yourself. But those who do mind shouldn't matter because if they dont like you as you and they only like you in differnet shape or form. In the end the only person you should please is you and yourself only.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Suess once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” What I think this quote means is that you should be who you are. Your true friends will not mind your crazy personality or anything! They will stick by your side through thick and thin. The people that do care about you and think things of you don't need to be a part of your life. You're perfectly fine without them. You can be yourself with your friends and express yourself. The people that care don't matter! All their doing is bringing you down!
ReplyDeleteThis quote by Dr. Suess really does relate to me in real life. This quote will apply to anyone once in their lifetime. For me, i can relate to this easily. When i was younger i had my best friend by my side threw everything! She loved my personality and i loved hers. As we got older she got new friends and her new friends didn't like my personality, unlike my friend! She soon realized that she didn't need her new friends, she needed her best friend by her side. And that's exactly what happened! This is perfect for anybody going through any situation in their life. This is a quote to live by!
Dr. Suess has once said,”Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This quote means to me that you shouldn’t pretend to be someone else but yourself and don’t be afraid to say what you like and feel. People who don’t mind you being just plainly you are the ones that matter, they’re different but for those who do mind you, they truly don’t matter since they choose to judge you instead of accept who you are. Dr. Seuss is simply saying to be you, not like other people. I think that this quote is sending out a message that if we be who we are and say whatever we feel, then who we are might inspire others and what we say might make a big difference to this world. So once again Dr. Seuss was calling us to be ourselves, not to pretend that we’re someone else.
ReplyDeleteThis quote is one of my daily goals, to be different. A few summers ago, I visited some family in Oregon and almost stayed there for the whole summer with two of my cousins that came to visit too, from Florida. My two cousins are very much different from me, I saw that everyone likes them so much so I wanted to be almost like them. So I started to dress like them, soon enough I even did what they did but I wasn’t happy that I pretended to be someone else instead just being myself. I felt like an outsider, even though I was trying to fit in, I still wasn’t happy. After that summer, I went back home and finally understood that I was being fake and that it was like a show I put on a stage and so decided to stop that show I put on and go back to being me. This quote inspires and always have been inspiring to me, it relates a lot to my life and it has showed me to acknowledge who I am, not my cousins or friends, or anybody else in this world but just be me.
Dr suess once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter. This quote means that you should always be who you are and voice your opinions. You should never change for other people and people that are truly your friends will still like you even if you don’t agree on things. You should never let people judge you because of the way you do something. People usually just point out differences about people to put them down so they feel bigger. It really helps neither person and can really hurt the other ones feelings.
ReplyDeleteThis qoute applies to my life because al through my life there was always one kid that would call me names and say things to me that were hurtful. It has been the same person since kindergarten till middle school. At first it would bother me but I finally realized that he was just saying those rhings to make himself feel bigger and apparently I was an easy target. He is now disliked by a lot of people for acting like this. That just shows how it is bad on both ends and people should all embrace each others differences. That is how the Quote applied to my life.
Dr. Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” This quote is so deep and meaningful. What Dr. Suess is saying is to Be yourself and speak out against the crowd. The people that will matter the most to you will be the ones to accept you, Like family. Your family is by your side to accept you for the person that you are, No matter how different you may be. If the person you thought cared about you doesn’t agree with your actions and how you feel, they aren’t a person who you should care about. The people that care about you will cope with you and learn to love you for who you are. The people who judge you because you’re a little (Or a lot) Different from them are people who don’t matter. It’s all a matter of ignorance and not being able to see how other people want to live their lives. It’s hypocrisy Your true friends and family stay by your side.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me a lot in everyday life. I’m a bit different than others because I have a strong interest in Hard-Horror and Macabre. When I first began drawing and practicing it, I remember being judged and talked about a lot for it. I was only young, around the age of eight or nine. I was really sad and anti-social because of it. But, I had a friend who was always there for me, alongside my caring and accepting family. They were actually the ones who sparked my interest in the area of art.I really appreciate, To this day, the people who enjoy my art and encourage me every day with every piece. It boosts my self-confidence and gets me through my day. It helps me disregard the others who look down upon it or make fun of it. In conclusion, Dr. Suess’ quote, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” makes me feel proud to be who I am.
I agree with Angie. I think she said it perfectly. People that care would cope with you and learn to love you for you. I also believe that the people who judge you for whatever reason don't matter and Angie explained it really well. I think Angie explained this quote the best out of everyone!
DeleteI like the way you included how it is just ignorance. The people who mind are just ignorant to the way others act. Your close friends and family are the people who will look past little things and love you for who you are. The way you compared your art is really nice. I personally enjoy your art and am very happy you are becoming more confident in it.
DeleteThis phrase is very powerful not just because somebody famous made it up its powerful because its the truth basically you can tell who your friends are because some kids just use you and some think as you as family its hard to image that one of your " buddies " is really not and you should pay attention to this phrase because I have kids use me for some stuff ands its not a welcoming feeling. You feel unwanted neglected and if you find that out thats great but if you dont and in the past you do thats even worse and it sickens me to hear yeah that kid used me for my money or food or what ever the problem is buts its just a sad roofless thing to do and kids or adults or whoever does not matter they will do that too you and you need to get out of that situation as possible because the more you wait the worse its gonna get.
ReplyDeleteI agree , I think that there is no reason to be friends with someone when they are obviously using you and are not your real friend.
Delete"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter" is a very inspiring quote. To me, this means be yourself all day, everyday. Don’t care about what others think of you. If you’re going to be judged on something about yourself by one of your “friends,” they’re obviously not worth your time. A true friend should never judge you for being yourself, and you shouldn’t either. No one who actually matters can judge you. Why should they be able to say something mean about you, when you’re being yourself. If that’s how you were born, then you stay that way. Don’t be someone you’re not.
ReplyDeleteThis quote means a lot to me, especially since I like to be myself around my friends. All my real friends know how I really am inside. Yes, there are those times when you actually do need to hide who you really are, like in school if you’re that crazy person. But around other people at different times, I don’t really care what they think of me. If they aren’t my friends, why should i care if they don’t like the way i act. It’s not like im going to be with them for the rest of my life. Like the quote says, “...those who mind don’t matter.”
i agree with you. I agree with you because Dr. Suess does mean to be yourself. Also because it means not to care what others think. I think that this is exactly what Dr. Suess meant while writing this quote. A true friend should never judge you, you are 100% right I agree with you very much because this couldn't have been written any better.
Delete“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.” This quote said by Dr. Suess is one of my favorite quotes. This is one of my favorite quotes for obvious reasons. One major reason is because of what the meaning of it is to me.This quote may have a different meaning to everyone who has read it or heard of it, because all quotes do, but it has one definite meaning to me. The meaning of this quote to me is that people who care most about you will always be there for you even if they do not stand by what you are doing. To continue, people who don't care about you will be there just to judge and critic you. Thats why when he says “...those who matter don't mind…” he is saying exactly that people who mean something to you won’t go against you and will always be there for you. When Dr. Suess says “...those who mind don’t matter.” he is saying precisely that those who are bothered by what you are doing shouldn’t have an effect on what your doing.
ReplyDeleteThis quote really relates to my everyday life. You are always going to people who are never happy for you no matter what you do. Like for example if I would get A,B honor roll opposed to honors honor roll, there will be that same person waiting there for me to tell me I did not do good enough. However, I will always have the important people there telling me I did my best and that that is good enough for them. All in all just getting that approval from those few individuals is enough for me as well. This quote has really helped me through many things in life, more than any other quote has.
I agree with what you said about this quote.I like how you mentioned that people that don't care about you will only be there to judge and critic you and that's what Dr. Seuss meant when he said,"..those who matter don't mind." I agree with you that the important people in your life who care about you even when they don't stand by what you're doing are the ones that matter. I also think that those who don't care about you and choose to judge you is because you are different from them in a good way. I agree and like about what you said about this quote.
DeleteDr. Suess once said "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." What I think he means by this is be yourself and say what you want. Don't let other people change who you are. Also, people who care what you think aren't really important. If someone really cares about you they don't care what you have to say or think they will just like you for who you are. If they don't then they are not a good friend. You should be able to be yourself and do what you want around the people who care about you. In life there will always be people who dis agree with you, but don't let it get you down because they are not important. The people who truly care about you are important.
ReplyDeleteThis quote can also relate to my life because when I was little I played soccer. After a while it started getting to much for me. I wanted to quit, but other people were mad at me. They didn't accept my decision. So, they didn't matter, but my parents, who care about me, accepted my decision and they matter to me.
I agree completely with what you are saying. You should always be who you are and never change for others. People who are true friends will learn to like you for who you are and not how you are "supposed" to act. She is right, there will always be people who want to put you down and want to make fun of you but you cant let it bother you. I think you put this very well.
DeleteDr. Suess’ quote "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter" can mean many things. To me it means to always be yourself no matter what others think. If a person really cares to be your friend they will not care what you do, they will like you for who you are. If they really care what you do it means that they shouldn't matter in your life. just be the person you want to be. Do things like listening to “different music” or getting tattoos and other body modifications even if society says its not right. The people in your life that matter will not care about the little things.
ReplyDeleteThis quote can relate to my life in multiple ways. I am judged all the time for liking the music that I do. I am also judged by other people about things that I like and plan on doing. There are many people in society that feel like tattoos and piercings are not a nice thing and do not accept that I like them. There are also many people who feel like a job in the musical industry is not a secure job and look down on me when I say that is something I would like to do. When these things happen I don't let it get to me because I know that the people in my life that really matter will support me in whatever I do.
I agree with you. If people care about you they like you for who you are. People shouldn't judge others, but they do. It's good that you don't let it get to you. I also liked how you included piercings and tattoos. If people care about you they shouldn't care if you have piercings/tattoos or not. I liked every thing you said about this quote.
DeleteDr. Seuss once said,”Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter". This quote means don't change because of what people around you say, stay yourself. If people just followed what all other people did, our world would be boring. There wouldn’t people dressing different or looking different we would all look the same. Don't change the way you act because of the people you want to impress. What some people can refer this to, be a leader not a follower. Make your own group of friends don't change because you want to fit in with these group of kids. Wanting to change to be popular isn’t the way to go. Most of those ‘popular’ kids will end up in the dumb. I had to change school 3 times and i did not change the way i acted in any school. I maybe wanted to to fit in, but i didn’t. I became a leader and not a follower. I don’t follow bad kids in smoking and stuff. Over the 3 schools i know who are my true friends and who aren’t. I know which ones are the followers. I just be myself and that it.
ReplyDeleteWwwwwooooooo Mitch, i agree with you all the qay. Your definition of dr.suess quote, couldn't have been said better. What you said made sense and you justifeied what you said with good description and good use of words. The reason why i agree with you because its close to what i said. Well Mitchell good job and have a nice night.
DeleteDr. Seuss once said, "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." To me, this quote means to do what you want and the people that matter in your life will support what you do and the people that mind what you do, shouldn't and don't matter in your life. Your true friends and family members will always support who you truly are and won't judge you. I can really relate to this quote. I'm a very outspoken, crazy, and loud person. So, whoever accepts me for who I am and supports me throughout everything are the only kind of people that matter in my life. I don't care what people think about me but the people that think good of me, are the ones that I care about and respect the most.. Also, you can tell who the real people are in your life by the way they act towards you and who you are. You shouldn’t have to change yourself for others to accept you, and the ones that don’t accept you, don’t deserve to be in your life. If someone is your real friend then they would accept you for whoever you truly are, and those are the kind of people you want in your life. Overall, this quote shows people to choose people in your life that will accept you for who you are.
ReplyDeleteJil, I completely agree with you. You don't have to be like others all the time just to have friends. You know you have real friends when they don't try to change you and the way you act. Real friends accept one another for who they are. I also liked how you related this to real life. Overall, good job.
DeleteDr. suess's quote ''Be who you are and say what you fell because those who mind don't mind and those who mind don't matter'' Is very compelling to me and forces me to think. I believe that on a personal level this quote is true, if you are talking to friends in a non-professional manner then I don't believe they would mind anything you say simply because they are your friend as long as it doesn't insult them or someone they care about. However, in a professional workplace it can be very bad to live by a quote such as this.
ReplyDeleteA wise man named Dr.Suess once said “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter”. What I think this means is that the people who actually care about you will still care about no matter what you think about yourself. But the people who don't like you for who you are don't matter at all in life. Because those people arent you ture friends. There are exceptions to this though, for example if you are doing something you shouldn't be doing. Your real friends will chastise you for it. In most cases, this is very true. This has applied in my life countless number of times. One example I remember very vividly is from over the summer. I had two groups of friends. Friends who would hang out with me to hang out with me. The other group used me for money and my sister for rides. Over the summer I changed a lot, maturity and physically wise. But my real friends stayed with me the whole summer. While the other ones who used me left me because I stopped letting them use me. Im glad I stopped them from using me, I used to think bad about myself because of them. So that is why the saying is so relevant in my life and probably in many other people’s lives.
