  1. ‘“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”- Wayne Gretzky. I think this is a really good quote by Wayne Gretzky because, it motivates people. It can motivate them to try there hardest in what they do. Also, it can make them try something new things. I think he said this to motivate other people and himself. I can relate this to my life because, i’m always trying new things and exploring new stuff i’ve never known. For example, I play softball. I used to be an outfielder but, now my coach has me playing at third base a lot more than outfield. At first I was like, well this is going to be fun and interesting, and now I love it. My coach taught me that if I want to continue in this sport or be successful when im older,I always have take try my hardest and not to miss 100% of the shots I take. So I always do new things or try new things. I don’t just not take them I try my hardest in what i’m aiming for. And not only did I learn this from my coach I learned it from my teachers, friends, family, and my elders all around me. I think that this quote has great meaning. Also, I think that Wayne Gretzky applied it to his life as well. He probably learned from a past experience in his life .”You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”- Wayne Gretzky is a quote to motivate people into trying or doing new things and to always take 100% of the shots you get.

    1. i agree with elena a lot. this quote is a good quote. You need to try something new for a change.also do something for not just yourself but everyone else.even though she was an outfeilder she tried playing third base.now she loves being third base and her coach taught her a lot.now she knows to try newer things even though she might not want to.she states that she is always exploring and trying new things. so now she knows and likes more things she did before

    2. I agree with elena also. Her example is very well put to help understand the topic. Although i do think she was a bit repetitive. She talked a bit too much about how you shouldnt miss 100% of all shots you take. Her examples were very clear to understand however.

  2. “You miss 100% of the shots you don't take”-Wayne Gretzky once said. This quote can be used in life everyday. This quote to me means that if you don't try something you won't know what will happen. For example, lets say there was Algebra homework and you said you can't do it. Then you decide not to at least attempt to try it you would get a zero. This quote doesn't just relate to school it also relates to my life. It relates to my life a lot because i don't always want to try things. Then i realize i should have tried because i could have liked that particular thing. For example, when i was little i always wanted to play soccer, but when i tried i figured out i didn't like it.But the fact is that i tried and learned new things. Also when i had hard tests i thought of just guessing on it but realized that i should take the chance of getting a 50 instead of a zero. When i got my test back i had gotten a 90 and i was excited. The point i'm getting at is to try otherwise you'll miss the hundred percent shots you don't take. This quote means a lot to life and more to even athletic people. If a soccer player just decides to stand on the field and not do anything he/she will most likely get kicked off the team. They would get kicked off because they didn't try to get a goal and just stood there like a lazy bum.

    1. I think Bridget did a great job in her writing. She used lots of examples, her opinion on things, and great ideas. And my favorite part was when she talked about how if you don't work your hardest there are consequences. Overall I think Bridget did a great job in her writing and had great details.

  4. “You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”This quote by Wayne Gretzky means to me that if you don’t try what you want you will never get to do that one thing or things. If you are inspired to do something why not try it rather than sit there and wait till it is too late. Life is about taking chances and if you don’t try at least you know you will not succeed. Not taking the shots is like not following your dreams. If you give 100% you can reach your dreams and do what you want to do in life. Missing the shots is like failing a class because if you don’t try you won’t pass. I can relate this quote to me because I try in everything i do because you got to try in life to get somewheres. I have dreams and I want to make them come true. I think the most important thing about taking the shots is believing. Believing that you can do it and change your life the way you want to live it. I will give 100% on everything because I want to do something after high school or even before high school for that matter. Trying is apart of life and makes us think but we make good and bad decisions but learn from them . All in all we all have to try hard and give our 100% on everything we do.

  5. Wayne Gretzky once said “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take”. I think this quote is a guide to life and can help us alot when in school, work, and everyday life. What I think this quote means is that if you decide to not participate in a test or quiz you will fail. Just like in basketball. You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. It can relate to my life and others really well for many reasons. One reason is that if I want to become better at scootering I have to learn new tricks and if I don’t try them I will miss all of them.Since I didn’t even bother to try them I would fail 100% of them. Another way other people can relate to it is that if you play football and you don’t take the practices seriously you can get cut from the team. I think in this quote Gretzky wanted this quote to go towards sports and thats why he was a hockey coach and player. So when you don’t feel like doing your homework or feeling lazy that you rather eat junk food and watch tv than practicing for a sport, remember the quote from Wayne Gretzky. “You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

  6. "You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky" I think this quote means if you don’t do it, it won’t happen. Like If you never take a shot or at least try to take a shot, you’ll never reach your goal so how would you accomplish anything? If you don't take a chance you'll never ever reach the goal you want to accomplish. That is what the quote means. I can relate this to my life in two ways when I was in 5th and 6th grade I played basketball and if I never tried to shot I would never be able to shot really good or if I never defended our team we would've never won because no one would've been blocked in the other team and they would've won all the games. Or when I wanted to go on vacation and I never asked my mom how would I know if she would've said yes or no. so I would've never went if I never took the shot and took my chance to go on vacation or stayed at home. I can relate this to my life in those ways. "You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky"

    1. I agree with Jess when she says if you never take a chance you will never reach the goal you want to accomplish. That is completely true. You have to take a risk to see if you can achieve it. Sometimes you have to take a risk to see if you can accomplish it. Life can be about taking risks. You have to just try.

  7. You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky" I think this quote means that if you don't take a chance on something then you don't have a chances of success. for example if you want to go out for a sport that you never played before but you want to try new things. but if u end up deciding that you don't want to try out because you never played before or everyone else is pros at it then you lose the opportunity at something you might be good at. this is similar to me. I remember when i wanted to go out for gymnastics but I ended up not going out for try outs. but now looking back at the decision I made I realize that I missed out on something really fun and a good sport. i also am disappointed at myself for giving up on something that I didn't even give a try. but the quote means that you should always give your 100% on something because you never know what you could be missing out on.

  8. “You will always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” is a famous quote by Wayne Gretzky. I think this quote means that if you don’t try, you won’t succeed. You can’t succeed if you don’t do anything. You have to work hard and try your best at what you’re doing. Say you are doing your math homework and you get some of your answers wrongs. If you correct them and learn from your mistakes, you still succeed. As long as you know what you’re doing wrong and fix it, you can succeed from that. I can relate this to an experience in my life because I’m not good at math. I’ve had horrible experiences with math and I just don’t get it. In 8th grade I decided I wanted to get an A in math. I took every opportunity that I was given and I did get an A. So what I’m trying to say is that I didn’t miss opportunity’s that were given to me. I took everything that was thrown at me in math and tried very hard. You always have to try your hardest even if you are great at something. You always have to take every opportunity and not make excuses if you can’t succeed at something. Making excuses will get you nowhere. Always try your hardest and take every single opportunity to improve at something. Everyone should follow this amazing quote.

    1. laura makes so many good points. Its true even if your good at something you still have to try your hardest. You never know you might make a minor mistake. She explains how she tried her hardest in math since she wasn't good and took every problem as a challenge. I have the same problems. Im currently trying to fix my mistakes so in the next unit in algebra I can know the material.

  10. Wayne Gretzky once said "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." What this meens is that whenever an oppertunity comes you should take it. If you don't take the shot you may wind up regretting it later on in life. Many people that I know are examples of this. When I was younger an example of this that happened to me was when I was given the oppertunity to do a club or stay after I always said no to it because I wanted to stay home and play games. I did not realize that I was missing so much in one year. I regreted saying no to all the opportunities and chances I got. If I had the choice I would go back and do all the clubs and activities I did not do. So listen to Wayne Gretzky and take all the opportunities you can. Another example of this is when my aunt had the opportunity to go back to school she did not take it and later on she ended up regretting it. Later on in life she had a great job opportunity the only problem was that it required a better education than she had so in result she could not get the job. Later on she went back to school and after two or three years she went to try the job opportunity but sadly the job was already taken by somebody else a week before she went to get the job. So listen to Wayne Gretzky and take all the opportunities you can.

    1. I agree with you Alex but I also think that it isn't all about taking certain oppurtunities. To me it is also about at least trying instead of not trying at all. Which kind of does cross the same bridge as what you are saying but what I am getting from you is either you do it or you don't. Not everything you do will be successful but you might as well try to make it successful. Other than that I mostly agree with your opinion and point of view on the quote from Wayne Gretzky

  11. Wayne Gretzky once said "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." What I think that this quote means is that if you don't try things that you have never tried before they may never come back too you later on in life. This could be trying something to eat that you never had before. Or like maybe being better too your brothers like being nice to them every once in a while. For example, it is like me not hanging to hang with my friends a lot more before I become an adult some day in life, or like going to Great Adventure and not wanting to go on the most popular ride King Da Ka etc. etc.. Or one last thing that I can come up with is that come to my mind is that if you don't take chances in things like help others that you do or don't know or even you that could kind of like stay in your head, and then you will be like oh I really do wish that I had done more in life when I was a kid or wasn't old and grumpy all of the time. This is what I think of Wayne Gretzky's quote "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take".

    1. I think nick's response too the quote is very well written and very detailed. He's a talented writer and really get into the writings. He really did describe it thoroughly. I really liked how he stated "this could be trying something you never eaten before." This sentence exactly shows that you'll miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

  12. Wayne Gretzy once said "you'll miss 100% of the shots you don't take." I think this quote means if you don't risk anything or don't do anything in life you wont be able too get another chance on them in life. It can be like trying new things in life such as trying new foods, or trying a new sport or activity. Or even if you don't try too change bad hobbits in your life you will be stuck with them or have the bad habbits for a very long time. Another example could be not doing a school assignment and you didn't learn anything from it, but if you took a shot you could do your assignment and try it even if you get most of them wrong you can correct them in the future. My main point is that you really need too take risk in lives they don't have to be big risk they just need to be risk and not always there will be an award but that's what the whole point of taking risks are. There's a saying "risk or reward" but the only way your going to get the reward is if you take the risk. All in all I think the quote you'll miss 100% of the shots you take is very inspiring and a very classic yet unique quote.

    1. Stephen did a good job because of how we explains if you don't try you won't have another chance in life. I like how he uses examples that relates to everyone. Another thing is that he used a saying "risk or reward" I like it because it is true if you risk something you may fail but learn something from it. All in all Stephen did a good job on explaining the quote.

  13. I think that the quote “You will miss 100% of the shots you won’t take. -Wayne Gretsky” Means that if you do not at least try to do something, there will be no chance of it ever happening. Like if you are offered to get into a college that has very hard courses and you don’t take it because you think you won’t make it, that would be missing the one shot instead if taking the chance in succeeding. There is no sense at all in not trying to possibly make it instead of not trying and not having a chance at all. For an example, I was given the chance to join a certain group in 3rd grade that was for kids who possibly could be exceeding in intelligence faster than others. It was said to be very hard for my age/grade but I thought to myself “Might as well as give it ago.” and well it was a difficult learning group but I was happy that I at least tried to accomplish the extra class. If I were not to even try that group, I could of had more difficulty with certain things and subjects. So if you ever have a great opportunity on the table, pick it up and try it instead of just passing it up. You never know if you will ever fail or succeed unless you try to do it.

    1. I agree with Aaron's explanation. I liked when aaron said if you get into a college and the courses are hard and you don't try them, you will not pass. I think it was a good way of showing us what Gretsky really meant. Overall, I think he had done an excellent job!

    2. I absolutely love Aaron’s opinion on what he thinks the quote means. He makes a great point when he says “If you do not at least try to do something, there will be no chance of it ever happening.”. He also gives two great examples that this quote is used for. He used one real life example, and one of his life. We all probably have different interpretations on this quote but I personally like Aaron’s the best besides mine. So in conclusion, Aaron made great points and examples to win me over to agree with him.

  14. When Wayne Gretzky once said, *You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take”. I think this means that if you don't try to succeed then there is no chance that you will. You have too take the risk, it gives you a better chance than not even trying because if you don't even try you already know the answer. I can compare this quote to my life because if i never took a risk i would have never made it to be in drama or chorus. My life would be completely different ( and not in a good way ). I agree with this quote because it can get people to go out for their dreams. then you may get the next Eminem or Sandra Bullock.

  15. the quote "you will miss 100% of the shots you don't take" by Wayne Gretzky can apply to many situations. So many people are afraid of failure. That there not strong enough, smart enough, or whatever the case may be. They think there not good enough so many don't even attempt. Right there you just set yourself up for guaranteed failure. You need to try even if you know for a fact you wont succeed atleast you know you tried. Actually you had a chance even if it was a slim chance. Not attempting can haunt you. You will question your self "what if.." a lot. I haven't done sports at school at all. This year im going to try out for basketball. I have no idea how the results are going to end up. I think i'm average at basketball. I know for sure there's many other girls who are better at basketball than I am. I want to attempt it. Even though i'm not sure if I will make it. I will be satisfied knowing I tried and I can improve my skills. Then next year try again and see if I will succeed. So if you have a passion for something or your studying for the big test you have. Do it with a positive attitude even if you fail that's life. You can learn a lot from one mistake and actually do an amazing job next time.

  16. “You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” This is a very inspiring quote by a good man, Wayne Gretzy. He may have said this quote just to say it, or, he could have experienced it himself and wanted to spread the knowledge to others in need. What I think this quote meas is that you have to put effort into almost everything you do in your life. The things that you love and care for require the effort that you put out to help it and you. For example, in seventh grade, I completely bombed the first marking period, like, got a D in 3 classes, and C’s in the others. So, I couldn’t stand it. I was fed up with how lazy I was to just not do what I was supposed to. So I improved a lot in the beginning of the second marking period. I studied for every quiz and test that came by, did all of my homework and classwork. And, it helped my grade immensely. I had all A’s in four classes and only one B in another class. And it went like that for the rest of the year into eighth grade, and now in ninth grade and I will keep putting in the effort that my grades and school work need. This was a great quote by a great man, Wayne Gretzy.

  17. “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take” - Wayne Gretzk.

Those words are 100% true. It means that you should take a chance with everything and anything. You never know what will happen unless you try. It will suck if you have a chance at something big and you dont take the chance because you will probably regret it for the rest of your life and you wont want to live with the words “what if”. It is 1000% better to live with the words “remember when”. Whenever I get an offer for something I always take it just to remember the experience or to try something I never have done before. An example would be when I played football in 6th grade. I had ever played before and I was curious to see how it would be so I tried it. I loved it but I just didnt have the time for it. I might even play next year depending how everything goes. I regret not playing this year though, thats a shot I never took. You should always try something new because you never know if you will like it or not, I never thought I would like football but I loved it. And you never know what you could get out of it such as friends or anything.
